Lewis Motorsports Announces 2000 Plans CONCORD, N.C. (Oct. 21) – Norfolk, Va.- Area businessman, W. Ashton Lewis and his sons, Ashton Lewis Jr. and Charlie Lewis, have formed Lewis Motorsports and will compete in 15 NASCAR Busch Series events on the 2000 schedule. “My sons and I sat down and decided to make a go of it in the NASCAR Busch Series,” Lewis Sr. said. “We will enter the Lewis Motorsports Chevrolet in at least 15 races next year, and the first one will be at Daytona International Speedway in February.” Lewis Jr. finished third in the 1998 Lysol 200 at Watkins Glen International in New York, marking the highest finish of the his 11 Busch Series starts. Lewis, 27, has captured 32 checkered flags in his career, most of them coming in the Skip Barber Formula Ford Championships and the NASCAR Winston Racing Series. While completing his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va., Lewis competed in the NASCAR Winston Racing Series at Langley Speedway in Virginia. The young driver collected four wins and four poles in just 23 late model starts. Lewis Motorsports is finishing renovations on a shop in Concord, N.C., that will be fully operational in late November.
