Davis & Weight Names New Driver JACKSONVILLE, FL (September 8, 1999) - Davis & Weight Motorsports’ owner Jerry Davis revealed today the hiring of Hooters Pro Cup major player Michael S. Ritch. “We’re very excited to bring Michael to the team, as he brings a wealth of racing experience and proven results,” Davis said. “The team felt that we needed someone who is aggressive. Michael has that drive, and he’s proven it by winning at most the tracks on the Hooters Pro Cup series.” During his two years as a driver in the Hooters Pro Cup series, Ritch recorded nine Hooters Pro Cup wins. This two year schedule to date only consisted of nineteen races. Joining Davis & Weight Motorsports will mean teaming up with crew chief Skip Eyler, as Eyler was hired last week to run the remaining Busch Series races this season. Ritch expects that the relationship and the level of professionalism he and Eyler already share will profit Davis & Weight’s performance. “Skip and I seem to be on the same “track” as we start this new venture,” said Ritch. “Hopefully, that will give us the edge in preparing the team and the cars. Frequently, it takes adjustment time for a new crew chief and a new driver to learn each others likes and dislikes, but with the previously established relationship we are ahead of the field.” The enthusiasm Ritch displays when talking about working with Skip flows over into the excitement of the Davis & Weight crew members. “This team is young, dedicated and focussed,” said Ritch. “They’re all committed to the performance of this team, and that’s what every driver and crew chief works toward. I think with their dedication, Eylers experience and my enthusiasm we can take it to the next level here at Davis & Weight Motorsports.
