Davis & Weight Motorsports Hires Crew Chief Skip Eyler JACKSONVILLE, FL (September 2, 1999) - Davis & Weight Racing team hired crew chief Skip Eyler earlier this week. As the new #55 Busch Grand National team prepares for what might be one of the most successful debut seasons of the Millennium, Eyler and the new team are enjoying building this dynamic organization from the ground up. For the first time in many seasons, a team will develop a modern approach to racing and marketing. The team will debut a new driver, build their own chassis and develop a competitive motor program in the near future. That’s not to say that the team doesn’t have a road paved with challenges for the upcoming seasons. Eyler, one of NASCAR’s most knowledgeable chassis specialist and shock builder, says he is ready to clear those hurdles. “As an industry, racing has become big business,” Eyler said. “Sponsors, drivers and team members put so much on the line so often that it becomes easy to loose focus. But the best still seem to make it all look easy. Success is now measured more critically and more often than ever. But for all its pressures, racing generally gives back to those who nurture it, those who are willing to give their all and still maintain sportsmanship. And as long as the game is evenhanded, I will continue to throw myself into the fray as often as possible. Because I choose to take care of the racing and let the rest take care of itself.” Mr. Davis and Mr. Weight, owners of Davis & Weight Motorsports, Inc. are the ideal car owners. Jerry and Tony will be the foundation for the team to structure from as it is formed. They have the same goals and principles as the most successful team owners do. Many new owners that don’t achieve immediate success become frustrated and react with drastic changes. Jerry Davis and Tony Weight are the exception, they have stepped back and are letting the well experienced team members set the course of building this team. However, Davis & Weight have found their own niche. They know that they can contribute to the team as far as obtaining sponsorship, and Eyler and his crew will obtain performance out of the cars.
