WIX FILTERS LAP LEADER NOTES FOR THE O’REILLY 300 NASCAR NATIONWIDE SERIES RACE AT TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY, APRIL 5, 2008.
Dario Franchitti earned WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors in today’s O’Reilly 300. Franchitti led once for one lap, the first time he had led a lap in 10-career NASCAR Nationwide Series starts.
Franchitti scored an 11th-place finish and took Raybestos Rookie of the Race honors for the fourth time this season. A Raybestos Rookie has now led at least one lap in each of the last two consecutive spring races at Texas. David Ragan led once for two laps in 2007.
DID YOU KNOW? Six different drivers have claimed WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors in seven Nationwide races this season. Scott Wimmer is the only driver to capture the honor more than once. Other drivers that have earned the honor are Brian Vickers, Mike Bliss, Brad Keselowski and Kenny Wallace.
FRANCHITTI QUOTES: “We led so that’s good. That gives us extra points which is nice. It was nice that we felt it was a good point of the race that we were running pace with certainly the 20 car. I don’t know if the 18 was quicker but in the longer runs we were happy with our pace. Like I say, we’re building and we’re a lot better than we were when we came here the first race last year so I’m happy.”
