DARIO FRANCHITTI, No. 40 FASTENAL DODGE: YOU RAN WELL AT LAS VEGAS EARLIER THIS SEASON. “This is the car that we run at Vegas and California and it was really good at California. We damaged it in Bristol, though, so they had to do a little work on it. It’s a car that I really like so we’ll see what happens on Saturday. We really had some problems with the car this morning. It was really good to start with and then it started to get really loose in the middle. They found a problem; a part on the car they thought wasn’t there so we’re good to go now. We’ll see what we can do with the ol’ Fastenal Dodge.” YOU WERE 14TH OVERALL IN THE FINAL PRACTICE SESSION. “Yeah, I’m pretty happy with that. This was the first time that I drove what was the Busch Series and I feel a lot more comfortable with it so it’s nice to see the progression. The hard work starts tomorrow, though, trying to qualify our Kennametal Dodge in Cup. That’s where the pressure is tomorrow [smiles].” THE RUBBER THAT WAS ON THE TRACK HAS BEEN WASHED OFF SO YOU WILL START OUT ON A GREEN TRACK. “Yeah, exactly. We actually felt the track was pretty good green today. Our car worked well on it and I think we went to the top of the sheet to start with but it’s going to be different tomorrow. When it’s like this, the challenge for me is to keep up with the changing of the track. And that’s where my crew chiefs, whether it be
Steve [Lane, Sprint Cup] or Brad [Parrott, Nationwide] need to give me some help there and that’s what we’re looking for.” WAS IT A DISADVANTAGE TO NOT QUALIFY TONIGHT? “I think we could have qualified better than 21st where I think we start. It’s fine.”
