O’Reilly 300 - Kasey Kahne Notes

No. 9 Hellmann’s Dodge Charger
Texas Preview

Kasey Kahne and the No. 9 Hellmann’s Dodge Charger race at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. Kahne owns one career victory at Texas and qualified outside the top 10 just once in his five starts for Gillett Evernham Motorsports

Kahne drove the Hellmann’s Dodge to a second place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway when rained ended the race and his chances for victory after 171 of the scheduled 300 laps. The Ultimate Chargers team is 11th in owner points, nine points outside the top-10.

Gillett Evernham Motorsports Co-owner George Gillett Jr. said he is enjoying his success on the track this season with the Ultimate Chargers team as well as success in other sports ventures. Gillett owns the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens and the Liverpool soccer team in the English Premiere League.

TV and Radio Times: Qualifying is set for Thursday at 3:00 p.m. (ET) on PRN Radio. Race time on Saturday at 3 p.m. on ESPN2 and PRN Radio.

DRIVER KASEY KAHNE QUOTES:

ON HAVING A COUPLE WEEKENDS OFF FROM THE SERIES “Our schedule can be so busy throughout the year that it’s nice to get a little time off here and there. It usually isn’t long before I’m ready to get back behind the wheel of the Hellmann’s Dodge. We came so close to winning at Bristol and ever since I’ve been anxious to get another shot at victory lane.”

THOUGHTS ON TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY “Texas has been a good track for me. I was able to grab a win there in 2005 and the Gillett Evernham Motorsports intermediate program is always very strong. We’re usually pretty consistent at qualifying in the top-10 at Texas, so I’m hoping we can get a solid starting spot. Our goal is to keep the Hellmann’s Dodge in clean air and out of trouble.

CO-OWNER GEORGE GILLETT, JR. QUOTES

HIS THOUGHTS ON COMPETING IN THREE PREMIER SPORTING LEAGUES ACROSS THE GLOBE “With regard to NASCAR, it is an unbelievable sport. The fan support is something I couldn’t believe until I immersed myself in it. 75 million fans and 40 million of them are avid fans. The support that we get at the team and at the driver level is absolutely amazing.”

“In Montreal, we recently clinched a spot in the playoffs and that was totally unexpected. In fact, it was predicted at the beginning of the season that we wouldn’t even make the playoffs. So that feels good. Our fans love it and we have a very competitive, young team that I think we can hold together for a while. Seeing the turnaround of that great franchise makes me really happy. We’ve gone with kids and built with them and trained them well. They’re playing brilliantly.

“In Liverpool, it’s a long distance away and there has been a fair amount of controversy over there. In spite of that the boys are playing very well and I’m proud of them.”
