Pepsi 300 - Brad Keselowski Notes

PREVIEW – Brad Keselowski (No. 88 U.S. Navy Chevrolet)
EVENT – Pepsi 300 (225 Laps/300 miles)
TRACK – Nashville Superspeedway (1.333-mile oval)
DATE – Saturday, March 22, 2008

KESELOWSKI GOING FOR STREAK – After scoring sixth and fourth-places finishes at Atlanta and Bristol respectively, Brad Keselowski will aim to score his third top-10 of the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series at the wheel of the No. 88 Navy Accelerate Your Life Chevrolet Monte Carlo in Saturday’s Pepsi 300 at Nashville Superspeedway.

POINTS JUMP – After back-to-back top-10 finishes, Keselowski currently sits eighth in the Nationwide Series driver standings, the 24-year-old driver’s highest points ranking of his career. The No. 88 Navy team is now 12th in the owner standings, just 12 markers out of 10th.

KESELOWSKI READY TO PLAY ‘REAL’ GUITAR – Thanks in part to all the rain the Nationwide Series has experienced during the first few weeks of the season, Keselowski and his Navy team crewmembers have spent some time playing “Guitar Hero” recently. After a good bit of practice, the JR Motorsports’ driver thinks he’s ready to take on the challenge of playing a real guitar. This weekend his goal is to take home the Gibson Les Paul trophy guitar designed by Sam Bass that the winner of the Pepsi 300 will receive.

NO. 88 TEAM AT NASHVILLE – In four starts at Nashville Superspeedway, the No. 88 team has one top-10 finish. The Navy team finished sixth in the April race at Nashville last year.

KESELOWSKI’S HISTORY AT NASHVILLE – Keselowski has two previous Nationwide starts at Nashville. Driving the No. 23 for another team, he was credited with DNF’s in both races last year due to mechanical failures. Keselowski has also competed at the superspeedway once in Truck Series competition.

CHASSIS NO. 318 – The No. 88 Navy team will run Chassis No. 318 in Saturday’s race. This is the same car that Keselowski drove to a sixth-place finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway two weeks ago.

VP 46 – Patrol Squadron FOUR SIX, the oldest continuously operating Patrol Squadron in the U.S. Navy, is the No. 88 team’s Fleet Honoree at Nashville Superspeedway this weekend. VP 46 employs the Navy’s most capable maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft (MPRA), the Lockheed P-3C Orion, to carry out anti-submarine warfare (ASW), anti-surface warfare (ASUW), intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, and maritime patrol missions.

KESELOWSKI (on trying to win the Gibson Les Paul trophy guitar at Nashville) – “The only guitar I’ve played is with the ‘Guitar Hero’ video game. A couple guys on my team have it, and we’ve been practicing a lot. We’re ready to try out a real guitar now. I’m not going to go out and buy one, so I’ve got to win at Nashville if I’m going to get to play a real guitar.”

KESELOWSKI (on learning how to play the guitar if he wins) – “If I win the guitar, I’ll learn how to play it for sure. I don’t usually take lessons. I’m not very good at listening to other people, so I’d probably have to teach myself.”

KESELOWSKI (on racing at Nashville) – “Nashville is a cool place. I feel like the track has gotten better over the years. The racing has definitely improved. You can run side-by-side and race pretty hard. It’s just a cool place – a cool town with a great atmosphere.”
