Stater Bros. 300 - Kyle Busch Notes

KYLE BUSCH QUICK FACTS
California Speedway
Stater Bros. 300
February 23, 2008

  • The Stater Bros. 300 marks Kyle Busch’s first race behind the wheel of a Braun Racing Camry. Busch will pilot seven races for owner Todd Braun during the 2008 Nationwide Series season. Beringer Vineyards will provide sponsorship for Busch in the Stater Bros. 300 and two additional races this season. Dollar General and Hass Avocados from Mexico will also sponsor Busch in select events in 2008.
  • There is no doubt Kyle Busch knows his way around California Speedway. In six Nationwide Series starts on the Fontana two-mile oval, he has finished in the top-10 four different times but has yet to reach Victory Lane. In his most recent Nationwide Series race at California Speedway in September of 2007, Busch started third and finished second. He’s hoping to better than finish by one and take Braun Racing to Victory Lane in their first outing together. If someone can lead the way for the Beringer Vineyards team, it’s him. In 2005, he became the youngest pole winner in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series history by capturing the No.1 starting spot at California Speedway. He also became the youngest Sprint Cup Series winner that same year after reaching Victory Lane at the same track.

Busch looking forward to first outing with Braun Racing
“I’m really looking forward to the 2008 season! I finished second at Daytona in the Joe Gibbs Racing Camry so there is a lot of momentum coming into this race. I really have to thank Joe Gibbs for giving me the opportunity to run some races for Braun Racing. I’m looking forward to running these seven races and hopefully getting to Victory Lane a few times.”

Busch on Racing at California Speedway
“I love racing at California Speedway. This is the site of my first Sprint Cup Series win but a Nationwide Series win here has always eluded me. We’re going to really work on the car in practice and focus on getting a good starting spot and having a car that’s going to be good in the afternoon when the race starts and will still be good in the evening after the sun sets. I’m running both the Craftsman Truck Series race for Billy Ballew on Saturday afternoon and the Nationwide Series race for Braun Racing on Saturday evening so we’re going to try to get to Victory Lane twice in one day.”

    Equipment Information
The No. 32 Beringer Vineyards Racing team will compete with chassis 24 in this weekend’s Stater Bros. 300. This is the same chassis Brian Vickers raced at California Speedway last September. He started ninth and finished 27th due to an accident.
