Burton to Start from Top Spot in Nationwide Event
With a little assistance from Mother Nature, Jeff Burton will lead the field to the green flag for the Stater Bros. 300 at the newly named Auto Club Speedway. Rain and a wet race track wiped out all of Friday’s planned activities at the Fontana track, sending NASCAR to the rule book to fill out the starting lineup. As the defending owner’s champion, Richard Childress’ driver gets the nod for the pole, while Tony Stewart will start second. Defending driver’s champion Carl Edwards will roll off third, followed by Clint Bowyer and David Reutimann.
