Nicorette 300 Recap

Eric McClure competed in his second event at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, where he started the Nicorette 300 in the 30th position, after qualifying was canceled due to snow showers that fell Saturday morning.

McClure battled an ill-handling car throughout the event and finished 33rd after a late-race crash ended his day with six laps remaining.

McClure Returns Home to Battle at the Bull Ring

McClure returns to his hometown track this weekend to compete in the Sharpie Mini 300, the site of his family’s first Sprint Cup win (Morgan-McClure Motorsprorts).

The 29-year-old driver will compete in his 45th NASCAR Nationwide Series event and his fifth at the “World’s Fastest Half Mile”.

The Abingdon, Virginia native has a best start of 32nd (August 2007) and a best finish of 24th (April 2007).

McClure Hosts Honorary Crew Member at Home Track

In conjunction with Bristol Motor Speedway, McClure, who resides only 30 minutes from the speedway, will host an honorary crew member during Saturday’s Sharpie Mini 300.

The winner will be selected during WJHL’s Morning Show on Wednesday, March 12, 2008.

“I’ve never been so glad to get to Bristol in my life. We’ve always run fair there, at least somewhat competitive, but haven’t fared so well as far as finishes. I think this is a great opportunity for the Hefty® Racing™ team to kick-start our season a bit. We always have a lot of support at Bristol, being just up the road in the Chilhowie/Abingdon area, and it’s nice to be able to spend the week at home with my family. And, if we can run well and keep it rolling we can have a decent day. ”

“You never like to be involved in those types of deals, especially with the circumstances the way they were. We didn’t do anything wrong. We were out of the way, which we had been all day with no problems, and just got caught with someone who evidently wasn’t told we were up there in front of them. But, those things can happen and you go on and try not to let them happen again.”
