WIX FILTERS LAP LEADER NOTES FOR THE NICORETTE 300 NASCAR NATIONWIDE SERIES RACE AT ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY, MARCH 8, 2008.
Kenny Wallace earned WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors in today’s Nicorette 300. Wallace led once for three laps and took the honor for the first time this season. This is the first time he has led a Nationwide Series race in 2008.
Wallace scored a 25th-place finish in today’s race and UNOFFICIALLY is 27th in the Nationwide Series championship standings.
WALLACE QUOTES: “First of all, I had nothing to do with this. We stayed out on gas and led and handful of laps. That’s my crew chief Rick Gay’s call. We’re happy to accept the WIX award.” THIS IS A SMALL TEAM. HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO RUN UP FRONT AND LEAD LAPS? “I think any time your team with your sponsor can lead some laps and get on TV, that’s why we race. If we don’t have our sponsors and they don’t see us on TV then we’re not even here. We led three laps as a result of a green flag pit stops.”
