RICHMOND, Va. (September 8, 2008) — Kevin Harvick and the No. 33 Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) Camping World Chevrolet started the Emerson Radio 250 from the seventh position and crossed the finish line in eighth place, his 150th Nationwide Series career top-10 in 209 starts.

With Tropical Storm Hanna moving into the area on Friday, NASCAR was forced to cancel all activities Friday afternoon and postponed both the Nationwide Series and the Sprint Cup races to Sunday at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway.

Returning to Richmond Sunday afternoon, the Nationwide Series teams were met with clear skies to run 250 laps around the .75-mile track.

“Our Camping World Chevy was really good,” said Harvick. “The team worked hard and had great stops all race long, we just don’t have the finish to show for the car we had.”

Taking the green flag from the seventh position, Harvick quickly moved to take over the fifth-position on lap five. Continuing to run in the top 10, Harvick began voicing concern that his brakes weren’t working properly.

On lap 28, a spin on the frontstretch brought out the first caution of the night. Harvick radioed the team to let them know the car was “a little tight in the center and pretty free off,” and the brakes still weren’t working well. The team added fuel, changed four tires and made an air pressure adjustment.

Running in the top five, the team continued making adjustments to help with the handling of the car throughout the race.

During the sixth caution of the night, Harvick came down pit road in the fifth position and following a four tire and fuel stop, restarted the race on lap 167 in second-place. Harvick quickly radioed the team “Great job guys!”

Unfortunately, on lap 204 Harvick received a penalty for crossing the commitment line to enter pit road due to miscommunication between the team. After the stop, Harvick restarted at the tail end of the longest line in the 19th position on lap 217. Picking his way back through the field, Harvick was able to move back into the top 10 on lap 239 and crossed the finish line in the eighth position.
