SPARTA, Ky. (June 16, 2008) — Cale Gale and the No. 33 Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) RoadLoans.com Chevrolet started the Meijer 300 from the 12th starting position, and ended the night with an 18th-place finish.

“We had a really good car in practice earlier today,” said Gale. “We were fast and thought we would be in contention for a top-10 finish. Unfortunately, something changed with the car and we were just off from the start. It’s frustrating to have such a strong car in practice and then not get the results in the race. We’ll go back to the shop this week, re-evaluate and head to Milwaukee next week looking to rebound.”

With rain forcing NASCAR to cancel all on-track activities on Friday at Kentucky Speedway, teams were given a practice session on Saturday morning with Gale topping the charts. With high hopes, the team qualified 12th for the start of the Meijer 300.

Taking the green flag, Gale quickly began sliding backwards and informed crew chief Wally Rogers the car was “way too loose.” By lap 20, Gale had fallen to the 20th position and was looking for the crew to tighten the car on the next pit stop.

With the race continuing to run green, teams began making green-flag stops on lap 52. Gale brought the No. 33 RoadLoans.com Chevrolet down pit road on lap 59, taking on four tires, fuel and adjustments to help with the loose-handling conditions. Once stops cycled through, Gale was in the 24th position, one lap down.

Continuing to battle with the ill-handling car, Gale moved into the 20th position and held the spot for most of the remaining laps. Under caution, contact from the No. 60 car caused the No. 66 car to spin moving Gale up to 19th on the lap 143 restart.

While running in the 19th position, Gale was able to work his way around the No. 47 car, taking over the 18th spot on lap 170 and held the position until he took the checkered flag.
