Coleman’s Day at Dover Spoiled by Blown Tire

#27 Team Secures Best Qualifying Start of Season

(Dover, Del.) June 2, 2008 – Brad Coleman and the No. 27 Scott® Shop Towels Ford Fusion put up a strong fight against the Monster Mile in the Heluva! Good 200 at Dover International Speedway on Saturday, but a blown tire midway through the race gave the Monster the upper hand.

Qualifying in the 6th position, Coleman’s best of the season, the Scott® Shop Towels Ford looked to be a top contender against the competition, track and even the weather. Coleman was confident in the car and in his team, maintaining a top 15 position throughout the better half of the race and climbing as high as second place.

“We worked hard on the Scott® Shop Towels Ford all weekend,” said Coleman. “We started off feeling strong with Shawn (Parker, crew chief) making changes that allowed me to get on the wheel. Then, the car tightened up and it was extremely hard to drive. The crew was prepared to make the adjustments but, the next thing I knew, the tire blew and I hit the wall hard. I’m disappointed in how we finished, but now have to just shift focus to next weekend.”

The blown right front tire on lap 103 put the car into the garage but, the damage was too much to repair and the team was unable to finish the race.

“Overall, we were pleased with the way the Scott® Shop Towels Ford Fusion ran today,” crew chief Shawn Parker added. “Brad seemed to have everything under control and was just waiting for a scheduled pit stop to have some minor adjustments. Unfortunately, the opportunity for that stop just didn’t come in time and the #27 car was forced to leave the race too early.”

The Nashville-based crew of Baker Curb Racing looks for a home track advantage this weekend as Coleman and the #27 Baker Curb team race for the local fans at the Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon, Tenn.
