7th-Place Finish for Mike Bliss, Supercuts Dodge

ATLANTA, GA (March, 8 2008) - Mike Bliss had a stellar run in the No. 22 Supercuts Dodge this past Saturday at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. From an 11th place starting position, Bliss quickly moved up and spent the majority of the race in the top ten, closing out the 195 laps in 7th place at the Nicorette 300.

Much of the NASCAR family was outside having snowball fights during the scheduled qualifying hour. So for the second time this season, NNS officials were required to fall back on their inclement weather qualifying method: setting the starting line-up based on points standings. Bliss would take the green flag from the 11th position.

For the first half of the race, Bliss did a good job holding his position in the top fifteen. The car was running tight, so the crew made adjustments and improved handling. By the last half of the race, the Supercuts Dodge had worked its way up to the top ten. The early morning snow in not-so-“HOT- LANTA” didn’t phase the Oregon native, nor his pit crew, who was on top of their game the entire afternoon.

“We were pretty tight for a good deal of the race, but it was very manageable and I was able to get just the right adjustments from my crew,” Bliss stated. “Our crew guys never cease to amaze me. They do an absolutely incredible job with what limited financial resources they have. Supercuts is a great sponsor and we are so grateful for what they give us. But they are all we have- and for only 20 races, so it’s tough.”

Crew chief Paul Wolfe knew that they had built a top-ten worthy race car.

“We used the same car that we ran in California, but with some proper adjustments to improve the handling for Bliss,” Wolfe stated. “I told the guys that I thought we had a top-ten car, and they all proved me right.”

The team looks forward to next week at Bristol , where they can be even more competitive on the short-track, which doesn’t rely so much on horsepower. Bliss finished in the top-five last year for Fitz Motorsports, and hopes to do the same this coming weekend.
