ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Rheem Manufacturing Company announced yesterday a new primary sponsorship with Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) during an unveiling ceremony at the Daytona International Speedway to showcase the design of the new Rheem race car. Increasing its level of commitment and investment in professional motor sports, Rheem will be the primary sponsor of four high profile Nationwide® Series races during the upcoming 2008 NASCAR season, which begins this weekend in Daytona.

KHI CEO and co-owner, and 2007 Daytona 500 champion Kevin Harvick, will be the driver for two races. Highly touted rookie Cale Gale will be the driver for the other two races, including the Camping World 300 presented by Chevrolet this Saturday. Harvick will drive the No. 33 Rheem car for his two races, while Gale will pilot the No. 77 Rheem car for his races.

“Through this sponsorship, Rheem will continue to educate the enormous NASCAR fan base, who consistently displays passionate brand loyalty to the sponsors, as well as reach the heating, cooling and plumbing distribution and contracting audiences,” said Rheem Manufacturing Company President and COO, JR Jones. “Furthermore, Kevin brings a level of enthusiasm and vision for quality to the sport, which parallels the Rheem approach to manufacturing.”

The powerful, bold Rheem paint design features a black base body color strongly punctuated by a unique flame treatment that is the signature design element of the paint scheme. A new Rheem marketing slogan, “Gotta Have A Rheem,” is being introduced on top of the rear deck lid.

As part of the sponsorship package, the Rheem logo will be featured on the No. 33 and No. 77 cars in bold red and black on the hood, spoiler, and rear panels, as well as on the teams’ fire suits, helmets and gloves. Because Rheem secured in-car camera coverage of Harvick and Gale for all of the primary sponsored races, the Rheem logo will also be showcased on ESPN, further exposing the Rheem brand to an even larger audience.

As an associate sponsor for all other races, the Rheem logo will be emblazoned on both Rheem cars in the prominent C-post position behind the back window. The Ruud brand logo will be prominently displayed on the C-post when Rheem is the primary sponsor.

“I am happy to have Rheem jump on board and join the KHI racing family,” said Harvick. “I have built a strong relationship with Rheem over the last few years and look forward to its continuation.”

Rheem will leverage its primary sponsorship throughout the season with exciting events and promotions for its independent distributor, contractor, and homebuilder partners, as well as to increase brand awareness of Rheem and Ruud home comfort products.

Harvick, a two-time Nationwide® Series champion (2006, 2001) and Rheem originally joined forces in 2007 as the major associate sponsor of Richard Childress Racing’s No. 29 car driven by Harvick in the Sprint® Cup Series. Rheem recently announced that it extended its associate sponsorship with RCR and Harvick through the 2009 Sprint ® Cup season.
