Freightliner to Sponsor Truex in Daytona Nationwide Race

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Feb. 5, 2008) – Freightliner Trucks will be the primary sponsor on Dale Earnhardt Inc.’s No. 8 Chevrolet at the upcoming NASCAR Nationwide series race at Daytona International Speedway.

Two-time Nationwide Series champion Martin Truex Jr. will pilot the machine during the Feb. 16 season opener.

“2006 was our first year as a corporate sponsor of this initiative. We’re proud of our association with such a prestigious team of supporters for an event that is at the heart of American sports,” said Melissa Kellogg, Freightliner Trucks director of marketing.

Truex, who won the series’ championships in 2004 and 2005, has one win and six top-10 finishes in his seven Nationwide Series starts at Daytona.

“I’m very excited to be competing in the Nationwide Series again, especially at Daytona,” said Truex. “It’s pretty cool to have Freightliner on the hood because Dale Earnhardt Inc. has a long history with them. It’d be great to get them a victory at a historic track like Daytona.”
