It was a rainy weekend in the Southern California town of Fontana. After four days of minimal track activity, and following the completion of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Monday, the Supercuts Dodge finally got it’s turn to race. Mike Bliss wheeled the No. 22 across the finish line in the thirteenth position, boosting him into the top-10 in the driver point’s standings.

After both practices were rained out on Thursday and Friday, qualifying was cancelled to allow for a single practice session before the set race time on Saturday. With the cancellation of qualifying, the cars would take their starting position based on the points standings, giving the Supercuts Dodge an eleventh place start.

The race began at approximately 1 p.m. on Monday. The crew worked with Bliss throughout the race to improve the conditions of the car. After a fast pit stop on lap 68, Bliss was able to gain spots and run in the top ten. By lap 103, the Supercuts Dodge had taken over the lead.

“We had a really good strategy, and that allowed us to gain track position at one point in the race,” Mike Bliss stated. “That (track position) is going to be so important this year with the implementation of the new tapered spacer, because it is harder to get a good run going.”

After the final pit stop it was 39 green flag laps to the checkered flag. The Supercuts Dodge battled it out with the fastest competitors on the track for a top ten spot. He crossed the finish line in thirteenth.

“We should have finished in the top-ten, because once we made those necessary adjustments, the car was running really well. But it was a good race and we are really looking forward to Las Vegas,” Bliss stated.

Next stop for the Fitz Motorsports team will be in Las Vegas, Nevada for the Sam’s Town 300.

Mike Bliss and teammate Kenny Wallace will be making appearances and signing autographs at the following locations:

Thursday- 7pm- McFadden’s at the Rio Friday- 8:30 p.m. – The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel Saturday- 7 p.m. - McFadden’s at the Rio (Kenny Wallace only)
