WIX FILTERS LAP LEADER NOTES FOR THE AARON’S 312 NASCAR BUSCH SERIES RACE AT TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAY, APRIL 28, 2007.
Raybestos Rookie Brad Coleman led once for 14 laps to earn WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors in today’s Aaron’s 312. Today’s race at Talladega was the first time Coleman has led a lap in seven Busch Series starts. He took WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors for the first time this season.
Coleman finished ninth in today’s race, his best finish and first top-10 in seven Busch Series starts.
Mike Wallace holds a one-race lead over Jason Leffler (3-2) in the overall WIX Filters Lap Leader standings.
COLEMAN QUOTES: “It was awesome. We started on the pole, led 14 laps and I knew we’d get trained. And we did, we went to the back. We kept fighting our way up. We got to fourth at one point. This Carino’s Italian Grill Chevrolet was awesome. At the end there, without the help of the people behind me, I wouldn’t have finished where I did. I got shoved around the outside and went from 14th to ninth in two laps so I’m happy. Carl Edwards came up after the race and said ‘You did a good job, man’ and when a NEXTEL Cup driver comes up and says that to you it’s a good feeling. On the last lap I had to be Superman. I’m just happy it’s over.”
HOW MUCH CONFIDENCE DO YOU GET RUNNING WELL HERE TODAY? “A lot of confidence and you realized how much fun it is. This is my first restrictor plate race in the Busch Series. In ARCA you’re running single-file most of the time and you don’t get to see what it’s like when someone gets under you, you go straight to the back. But this, there’s three lines consistently so it was awesome.”
YOU WON WIX FILTERS LAP LEADER OF THE RACE HONORS TODAY. “I wish we could have led the most laps and won. It’s pretty cool to win the WIX award. I’m happy with what we got today.”
