Aaron’s 312 - Toyota Qualifying Quotes
Dave Blaney in the No. 10 Hass Avocados of Mexico Toyota Camry qualified in the second position
for Braun Racing.
Jason Leffler in the No. 38 Great Clips Toyota Camry qualified in the third position piloting the same
car he sat on the outside of the front row with at Daytona International Speedway in February.
David Reutimann will start in the 15th position for Michael Waltrip Racing in the No. 99 Aaron's
Dream Machine Toyota Camry.
Blaney enters this weekend's race holding the second position in NBS point standings with Reutimann
fifth and Leffler 14th.
Toyota has earned one pole in NBS competition with Blaney at California Speedway.
All three Toyota drivers have led laps in NASCAR Busch Series competition this season with Leffler
leading a total of 40 laps thus far, Reutimann has led the way for a total of 35 laps and Blaney has set
the pace for 17 laps giving Toyota a total of 92 laps led.
DAVE BLANEY, No. 10 Hass Avocados of Mexico Toyota Camry, Braun Racing
Starting: 2nd
How has your car been in practice and why are the Toyota Camrys so much more successful in the Busch
Series than in the NEXTEL Cup Series?
"The car's been running real good all weekend so we're happy with it. We know we're starting in the top-five
and that's what we were looking for here in qualifying. It's a whole different thing for the Toyota Camrys
over here in the Busch Series versus the Cup Series. There are a lot of new teams over there. My Caterpillar
team is a good, experienced team, but we've had some bad luck. The equipment over there is very good and
obviously it's real good in the Busch cars too. We have a fast race car and hopefully we'll get another good
run tomorrow."
Have you and Jason Leffler talked about working together tomorrow?
"We haven't even had a chance to talk about working together. Obviously we will if that's possible. We'll
stick together and help each other as best as possible. Sometimes you get spread apart and can't stay together
and we're not going to jeopardize a good run for one of us just to stay with each other. If we're both up front
at the end of the race, he knows he can count on me and I know I can count on him."
JASON LEFFLER, No. 38 Great Clips Toyota Camry, Braun Racing
Starting: 3rd
How was the car on your qualifying lap?
"This is a great car. This is the car we brought to Daytona, and we were able to start on the front row
and lead a couple laps there, so I'm really looking forward to tomorrow's race. A big credit goes to
the whole Great Clips team. The guys have given me a great car with an awesome motor and
hopefully we'll come home with a good finish in the race. I'd like to start near the front to keep from
getting caught up in any wrecks, but this is Talladega. Anything can happen."
DAVID REUTIMANN, No. 99 Aaron's Dream Machine Toyota Camry, Michael Waltrip Racing
Starting: 15th
How has your Busch car been here at Talladega and what kind of run are you expecting?
"It would be awesome to get a good finish here at Talladega for everyone at Aaron's and Michael
Waltrip Racing. The Busch program has been improving each week, and we've got a good handle on
our cars lately. It's encouraging when we can go to such different tracks and still have good speed.
Having an early qualifying draw probably hurt us a little bit, but I like our chances in the race. It
would be great to win tomorrow."
