Aaron’s 312 - Kyle Busch Notes

PREVIEW: KYLE BUSCH (NO. 5 DELPHI CHEVROLET)
VENUE: TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAY (2.66-MILE TRI-OVAL)
CIRCUIT: NASCAR BUSCH SERIES (RACE 10 OF 35)
EVENT: SATURDAY, APRIL 28, 2007 (117 LAPS, 312 MILES)

LAP LEADER: Kyle Busch led 33 laps in last Friday's NASCAR Busch Series race at Phoenix International Raceway to bring his laps-led total to 532. Busch has led at least one lap in all seven of the Busch Series races he has competed in this season.

SUPERSPEEDWAY STATS: Busch has posted top-five finishes in two of his three Busch Series starts at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, including a third-place result last spring. He also led 46 laps at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway in February before a faulty fuel pump ended the No. 5 team's day.

TEAMWORK: Busch won't have to look far to find a drafting partner this weekend in Talladega. His Hendrick Motorsports teammate Casey Mears will also be in the 312-mile race driving the No. 24 Chevrolet. This will be the duo's first Busch Series superspeedway race together as teammates.

BIRTHDAY BOY: When Busch finished fourth in his Talladega Superspeedway Busch Series debut in April 2004, he was only 19 years old. Following this Saturday's race, Busch will celebrate his 22nd birthday on May 2.

DELPHI RETURNS: Busch needs no help managing the high banks of Talladega Superspeedway, but his sponsor this weekend, Delphi, provides navigational assistance through its products such as the NAV200. Delphi also sponsored the No. 5 Chevrolet at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where Busch narrowly missed earning his first victory of the season. The No. 5 car will also display the Delphi colors at Daytona International Speedway, Chicagoland Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway.

SUPERSPEEDWAY CHASSIS 315: Crew chief Mike Bumgarner has selected Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 315 for Saturday's Busch Series race at Talladega. It is the same car that led 44 laps at Daytona before finishing 37th due to a faulty fuel pump.

KYLE BUSCH, DRIVER OF THE NO. 5 DELPHI CHEVROLET: (ON NAVIGATING A SUPERSPEEDWAY.) "You're always, as a driver, trying to keep up with the track and trying to realize where you are and what exactly your next move should be. Sometimes when you think what you need to do next, you're already moving on to something else. It's tough to really understand how to race at Daytona or Talladega."

BUSCH: (ON THE TROUBLES HIS BUSCH SERIES TEAM HAS ENCOUNTERED THIS SEASON.) "My sponsors joked this past weekend that we need to make a list of everything that has gone wrong this year, because really it could be almost funny. We had the fuel pump in Daytona after leading. The spin on the last lap at Las Vegas. The lugnut coming off the wheel in Atlanta. The two spins at Bristol, and then the wreck this past weekend in Phoenix. It just seems like we can't catch a break. I think we've proven that we're a strong team and are a threat to win every weekend. When we do get to victory lane, finally, it will be a great relief for all of us."

BUSCH: (ON HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS' RESTRICTOR PLATE PROGRAM.) "The way that the Hendrick Motorsports teams have run in the recent restrictor plate races, I don't know how a Hendrick team couldn't be a favorite. The team has built some really good race cars and the restrictor plate program at Hendrick Motorsports has come a long way. I think this should be a really good weekend for us."
