Aaron’s 312 - Reed Sorenson Notes
Reed Sorenson Advance
Aaron's 312 @ Talladega Superspeedway
Race: Aaron’s 312 on Saturday, April 28, 2007
Track: Talladega Superspeedway (2.66-mile tri-oval)
Location: Talladega, Ala.
Reed Sorenson and the No. 41 Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit Dodge Team Facts:
Reed Returns: Reed Sorenson will return to NASCAR Busch Series (NBS) competition this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway with Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit colors on board with him. Sorenson has been hampered by an unusual streak of bad luck in NBS competition so far this year, but is planning to shake the monkey off his back in Alabama on Saturday.
Wrigley’s 41 Team, Please Step Forward: David Stremme and the No. 41 Wrigley’s team scored another solid 11th-place finish last weekend at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR), which gave the team another nice lift up—six positions total—in the overall point standings. The Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) Busch team is now 25th in the overall rundown with a running tally of 821, just 121 points out of 10th place.
Winterfresh to Race on Sunday: Wrigley’s Winterfresh brand, which made its NASCAR Busch Series debut earlier this month at Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon, Tenn., and was carried on board the No. 41 CGRFS Busch Dodge this past weekend at PIR in Avondale, Ariz., will be making its NASCAR NEXTEL Cup debut this upcoming Sunday on the No. 40 CGRFS Dodge. DirecTV “Hot Pass” will feature the No. 40 Wrigley’s Winterfresh team on Sunday, as David Stremme and crew race the high banks of Talladega Superspeedway. They will be one of five teams featured on “Hot Pass.” Subscribers can watch all of the action from the No. 40 car and pit area on DirecTV channel 797.
Chassis: The No. 41 Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit team will race chassis #551 in this weekend’s Aaron’s 312. It is the same car the No. 41 CGRFS Busch team raced at Talladega last April when Sorenson and crew were top-10 contenders all day until a chaotic sprint for the checkered flag on lap 117 forced the No. 41 Dodge out of the stronger draft and sent it sailing from a ninth-place running position to a 17th-place finish.
When to Watch: The Aaron’s 312 is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. ET Saturday, April 28, and will broadcast live on ABC (TV), MRN (Radio) and Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 128. Qualifying for the 117-lap race is scheduled to take place at 5:05 p.m. ET Friday, April 27. The broadcast of the Talladega NBS qualifying session will be taped to air later Friday night on SPEED at 8 p.m. ET.
CGRFS Driver Development Update: Brady Bacon put forth two impressive performances over the weekend in Indiana. First, he competed in the National USAC Sprint Car event at Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway on Saturday, and was part of the closest finish in USAC history as he raced down to the wire against eventual race winner Levi Jones. Still, Bacon left the track with a top-five start (fourth place) and finish (second). On Sunday, he scored a 14th-place finish at Winchester (Ind.) Speedway, which was his first official sprint car start on pavement. Bacon will compete in two more USAC National Sprint Car races this weekend. First, he will run at the Gas City (Ind.) I-69 Speedway on Friday, April 27, and then he will head to Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, on Saturday. Scott Lagasse Jr. is scheduled to run the No. 4 ARCA Dodge in the Kansas Lottery $150 Grand at Kansas Speedway on Friday, April 27. This weekend’s ARCA race will be broadcast on SPEED (LIVE, 5 p.m. ET). Also, on Saturday, April 28, Bryan Clauson will return to action at the O’Reilly Raceway Park (Clermont, Ind.) in the ASA North Late Model Series race. Clauson will be piloting CGRFS NEXTEL Cup driver David Stremme’s No. 40 Memorex Late Model car in Saturday’s show.
