O’Reilly 300 - Jon Wood Notes

JON WOOD LOOKING FOR LUCK IN ALL THE RIGHT PLACES IN No. 47 CLOROX FORD

Jon Wood doesn’t need a fast car. He already has one. What he needs is a little racing luck.

The driver of the No. 47 Clorox Ford Fusion said Saturday’s O’Reilly 300 at the Texas Motor Speedway is a good place to continue the momentum his Wood Brothers/JTG Racing team started a week ago.

A bad pit stop at Nashville last week cost Wood a lap, but he still managed a 16th-place finish to move up four spots in the NASCAR Busch Series standings. He’s 13th heading into Saturday’s race, knowing with a little bit of luck he easily could move into the Top 10.

His team will bring back the same car it had at Atlanta last month. That car was involved in a crash at the end of the race, but it’s been repaired and is like new, crew chief Scott Zipadelli said.

WHAT THE TEAM HAS TO SAY Jon Wood, driver of the No. 47 Clorox All Ford Fusion: “I’ve always loved Texas, especially in the trucks. We’ve always had fast cars there, but we’ve usually been missing a little luck. We wrecked two weeks in a row, then we had the bad pit stop at Nashville that cost us a real good finish. At the same time, we finally finished a race and made a nice move in the point standings. You have to be pleased when you make a bad situation better. You don’t have to be happy about the pit stop, but you have to be pleased with the way we rebounded from it. The lesson learned there is a bad finish is better than not finishing at all.

“The tracks at Charlotte, Texas and Atlanta all look alike. They have some differences, but the basics are the same. It’s a fast track and I love fast tracks. If we can get a little racing luck, I’d love it even more.”

Scott Zipadelli, Crew Chief of the No. 47 Clorox Ford Fusion: “This is the same car we wrecked at Atlanta. It’s been rebuilt, and hopefully we made it even better. We learned some things at Atlanta that we wanted to incorporate into the car and that gave us the opportunity to make the changes. It’s not the way we would have liked to do it, but we turned a bad situation into a good one.”
