Emerson Radio 250 - Rookie Post-Race Quotes

Where the Raybestos Rookies finished at Richmond:
Ambrose 15th
Krisiloff 14th
Keselowski 38th
Ragan 39th

MARCOS AMBROSE IN THE No. 59 KINGSFORD FORD WAS THE RAYBESTOS ROOKIE OF THE RACE AT RICHMOND.

Notes:

  • Ambrose finished 15th and took Raybestos Rookie of the Race honors for the fifth time this season.
  • Ambrose was the only Raybestos Rookie to finish tonight’s race on the lead lap.

AMBROSE: “I don’t know where the other Raybestos Rookies finished but we’re fighting hard and got ourselves back on the lead lap. We had a much better short track race than we’ve had for a while so I’m really pumped. We just got out-snookered there at the end without the fresh tires but I’m real proud of my guys.” WAS YOUR CAR LOOSE OR TIGHT TONIGHT? “It was pushy-loose [smiles]. We worked on it and actually we learned a lot. We’re just getting better and better as a team. I’m just real excited for the future. I think I’m getting better, the team is gelling and we’re learning about these racecars. We’ve got some great people in now to help us out. I can’t wait for next year and the next race.” ARE YOU TRYING TO GET THE BEST FINISH EVERY WEEK AND LEARN AS MUCH AS YOU CAN? “I want to finish top-10 in the points if we can and I want to finish in contention for that Raybestos Rookie of the Year deal.” HOW MUCH OF AN ACCOMPLISHMENT WOULD IT BE TO FINISH IN THE TOP-10 IN POINTS? “It’d be huge for us. That would be a big win.”

DAVID RAGAN, No. 6 DISCOUNT TIRE FORD: “The 21 just moved up and I was on the outside of him and he didn’t know I was there, I assume, and it just put us into the wall. I’m certainly not putting all the blame on him. As a rookie driver new to these cars he’s got to have some help. Obviously his spotter and crew chief weren’t on top of things. It’s just unfortunate. WE had a top-10 car tonight. We moved up from 28th all the way there to about the top-12 there the first hundred laps. Our Discount Tire Ford was just as good as we needed for it to be then got bit there with about a hundred to go. It’s just one of those things.”

BRAD KESELOWSKI, No. 88 U.S. NAVY CHEVROLET: “We hit on something there on that next to last pit stop we made. We were the first car one lap down and made some really good progress. I was very happy with that. We got our lap back on the Lucky Dog. We were in really good shape. I got outside the 38 and 35 and passed the 38. I got next to the 35 and the 38 dive bombed the 35 and wrecked us both. It’s unfortunate for the NAVY Chevrolet but it’s the way it goes.” WERE YOU JUST IN THE WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME? “Yeah, I don’t know. He makes the same moves every week. It’s pretty unfortunate. I should have known that it was coming.”
