Emerson Radio 250 - Rookie Friday Quotes

Raybestos Rookie Brad Keselowski was involved in a hard crash last week at California Speedway. Keselowski spoke about the incident before the start of Busch Series practice this morning at Richmond.

BRAD KESELOWSKI, No. 88 U.S. NAVY CHEVROLET: HOW SORE ARE YOU? “Not any at all. I hurt my left foot a little bit but woke up the next morning and I was fine. That was really the only thing that was bothering me in the car. The rest was that they just wanted to check me out and make sure that I was okay.” WHAT HAPPENED? “Well, when I was in the car I had no idea what happened. But after seeing the replay, basically J.J. Yeley and AJ Allmendinger got together and we’re kind of on the bottom of the track minding our own business and they caught us up in it. It was pretty unfortunate but that’s the way it goes sometimes.” THE ACCIDENT LOOKED SPECTACULAR ON TELEVISION. HOW WAS IT FROM INSIDE THE CAR? “Right before I hit the wall I knew I was going to hit pretty hard so yeah, it was kind of wild at that time. I was pretty confident that I was going to be alright but the rest of it happened so fast that I couldn’t even keep track of how fast it went. As far as the 42 [Allmendinger] hitting me while I was in the air or the fire and that kind of stuff, that all happened so fast.” WHEN YOU HAVE A CRASH LIKE THAT, DO YOU TRY TO RADIO THE TEAM IMMEDIATELY? “As soon as I was finished wrecking I let Wes [Ward, crew chief] know that I was okay and came over the radio and told him that I probably hurt my foot. I tried to communicate as fast as I could for sure.” ARE YOU EXCITED ABOUT THIS WEEKEND? “We’ve got a great car here this week, brand new car from Hendrick Motorsports with a Richard Childress engine in it and I’m very excited about that. This is the first of the fruit of Hendrick Motorsports working with JR Motorsports. I’m really excited about that and I’m hoping we can put the NAVY Chevrolet up front.” IS THIS CAR DRAMATICALLY DIFFERENT THAN OTHER CARS THAT YOU’VE BEEN RUNNING? “There’s some things but at the end of the day it’s still four tires and wheels and a guy behind the steering wheel. There is a reason why Hendrick is successful, for sure.” WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON? “We’d like to keep getting top-10s and eventually keep getting better than that every week. I’d like to get some top-fives out of that and if we can continue to get more competitive then maybe go for some wins.” DO YOU LIKE RICHMOND? “I really like these styles of racetracks. It’s multi-groove and you can run side-by-side. There’s a lot of passing and you can have a lot of fun with that.”
