Emerson Radio 250 - Ford Post-Race Quotes

MATT KENSETH – No. 17 Arby’s Ford Fusion (Finished 4th) – WHAT HAPPENED LEADING THE RACE? “A couple of lapped cars got together and spun out and I got on the brakes, but the 15 was just so close to me that I couldn’t stop to keep from hitting him. I had to turn the wheel a little bit and my car was real loose and I just spun out. It was hard to recover from that and we just couldn’t quite get it done. We had a great car. The guys gave me great pit stops tonight and it was a lot of fun. I wish we wouldn’t have spun out and had a chance at the 5 because we had a lot of fun up there racing tonight.” HOW MUCH FUN WAS IT WITH THE FRESH TIRES AT THE END? “Yeah, it’s fun being that guy but we really needed about 10 more laps and I think we could have got it done. The tires really dropped off a lot here and these cars are a lot of fun to drive here. I think they put on a great race, so it was enjoyable out there. We’ve had a good car here a lot of times and led a lot of laps, but just could never quite get the win here, so that’s a little disappointing, but yet it was a good run for our Arby’s car.”

CARL EDWARDS – No. 60 Scotts Winterguard Ford Fusion (Finished 2nd) – “Kyle and those guys did a great job. I wish we could have put on a better show at the end. We could have got Kyle, but he had a great car and we did a great job. It was kind of a battle of the grass seed cars and he got us tonight, but that’s what we needed to do for the championship. This is great.” IT’S BEEN A ROUGH FEW WEEKS. “It’s been pretty miserable. It’s really fun to race here. It’s gonna be a blast tomorrow night. Tomorrow night is gonna be a great race and I just had a good time. It’s too bad Kyle was a little faster. He had the fastest car, that’s for sure.”

CARL EDWARDS PRESS CONFERENCE
HOW WAS YOUR RUN? “I’m so proud of my guys. In practice, that thing was miserable to drive. I mean, it was no good. They did some wholesale changes and I buckled in and went back out and they closed the gate, so we couldn’t go out and run it. We were a little nervous because we didn’t get to run on it with these springs and shocks and stuff, so I’m really happy we ran as well as we did. That’s what we needed to do for the owner’s championship. I wanted to win really bad. This place is so much fun. It’s great to win a race here, but Kyle definitely had a great car and I just couldn’t get him. Maybe if the dude who ran third would have laid off me a little bit I could have got a run on him, but I just couldn’t do it.” THIS MUST FEEL GOOD AFTER THE LAST FEW WEEKS. “Oh yeah, it’s huge. PK (Pierre Kuettel), we kind of had a little meeting this afternoon and it was like, ‘Man, we’ve got to get things together.’ We’ve been running pretty mediocre and having bad luck, and those two things combined make for a lot of really bad finishes, so it’s awesome, it’s great to finish second and have a good run with a car that was competitive. It’s just fun to race when you have a car like that.” HOW FRUSTRATING IS IT TO WATCH A GUY PULL OFF IN THE DISTANCE AND WHERE WAS KYLE BEATING YOU? “Yeah, it’s frustrating anytime you’re driving your car out and the guy pulls away, but it’s sometimes like that. I think he was beating me a little bit in the middle and right back to the gas it seemed like he was pretty good.”
