SCOTT WIMMER QUOTES:
You’ve run well at RIR from the first time you ran a Busch car there in 2001. What is it about the track that you like?
“I think it goes back to all the short-track racing I’ve done in my career. Most of us, in the Busch Series, grew up on short tracks. Richmond makes for really tight racing. We can run side-by-side all night and I think it’s one of the most competitive tracks we go to. I’ve always been comfortable there and I’ve been fortunate to have had some decent runs.”
You are climbing into the No. 29 Holiday Inn Chevrolet as the point leader in the Busch Series owners’ championship point standings. Are you approaching this race differently?
“No, not really. We have gone from having the lead to not having it to having it again over the past few weeks. We are just fortunate that Jeff (Burton) has done such a great job getting a lot of points. We are just focused on winning races and running up front and the points will be reflected with strong finishes. I am really excited about getting back in the Holiday Inn Chevy because our short-track program has been unbelievable this year. It’s about going to Richmond and running hard.”
