NOTES:

  • This Week’s BB&T Chevrolet at Richmond International Raceway … Clint Bowyer will pilot Chassis No. 069 from the Richard Childress Racing (RCR) stable. This is the same car Bowyer raced to his first NASCAR Busch Series win of 2007 two weeks ago at Phoenix International Raceway. Bowyer and company tested this BB&T Chevy at Richmond March 27-28 and were consistently one of the fastest teams at the test.
  • Back in the Saddle with BB&T … After running a Camping World paint scheme at the last two races, Bowyer’s No. 2 Chevy returns to its traditional BB&T colors this weekend at Richmond International Raceway (RIR).
  • Pretty Sporty Stats … In six NASCAR Busch Series starts this season, Bowyer has earned one win, three top-five and four top-10 finishes. His 13th-place finish last weekend at Talladega was only the second time this season he has finished outside the top six.
  • RCR Busch Cars in Richmond … In 30 NBS starts at RIR, RCR has earned four wins (Kevin Harvick – May ’03, Sept. ’05, May ’06 and Sept. ‘06), two poles, 11 top-five and 15 top-10 finishes.
  • Welcome Back Dan … Crew chief Dan Deeringhoff returns to the top of the No. 2 pit box this weekend after getting married last weekend in the Bahamas. Deeringhoff married Sandy Bessey last Saturday at Sandals Resort in Nassau.
  • Double Duty at RIR … Following his duties behind the wheel of the No. 2 BB&T Chevy, Bowyer will turn his attention to the No. 07 DIRECTV Chevrolet Impala SS for Saturday’s Crown Royal 400 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race. Live coverage of the 10th stop on the 2007 NEXTEL Cup tour will take the green flag Saturday, May 5th beginning at 7 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). The race will be televised live on FOX and broadcast worldwide on the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and Sirius Satellite Radio. Qualifying for the 10th of 36 points-paying races on the 2007 schedule will be televised live on SPEED Friday, May 4 at 6 p.m. EDT.
  • Up to Speed … The Circuit City 250 from Richmond International Raceway will be televised live on ESPN2 Friday, May 4th beginning at 7:30 p.m. EDT. The race will also be broadcast live on MRN and Sirius Satellite Radio. Qualifying will be televised live on SPEED on the same day beginning at 4 p.m. EDT.

    CLINT BOWYER QUOTES
You probably should have won a couple Busch races at Richmond.
“We’ve come close at Richmond a few times. We’ve just got to seal the deal. There have been so many ‘so close, shoulda won that race’ deals with that Busch car. I don’t understand why we haven’t won more. When you have a dominant car and you pit when the caution comes out, you just can’t help that. Sometimes it just wasn’t meant to be. I hate to chalk it up to that but that has happened to us a bunch. At New Hampshire last year we had the dominant car all day long. We pit and the caution comes out. What do you do?”

Is Richmond a place, where chances are, you’re not going to come out of there without a few scratches but, at the same time, you’re working hard not to beat and bang too much?
“Usually, the guy who wins has a clean car and all four fenders are on it. Nine times out of 10, that’s the case. It’s hard to stay out of trouble and keep all four fenders intact. Even at a short track like Richmond, aerodynamics is crucial. You wouldn’t think so but I know firsthand. I ripped my right-front fender off during the Busch race last year that everyone thought we had wrapped up. It wasn’t so much the case after that.”
