Wood Ready To Turn Things Around
JON WOOD PUSHES AHEAD TO GET No. 47 CLORIX FORD ON TRACK
Jon Wood refuses to back away from a challenge. He won’t ever take the easy way out. That’s why the driver of the No. 47 Clorox Ford Fusion said the best way to snap out of a slump is to push ahead.
Wood will attempt to get his Wood Brothers/JTG Racing team back on track at this Friday night’s Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 at the Phoenix International Raceway.
The team has been competitive in each of the last four races, but effort ended in accidents three times. Despite his troubles, Wood remains among the Top 20 in the NASCAR Busch Series standings.
The Phoenix racetrack presents unique challenges to Wood and his race team. Although it’s a one-mile track, the team is approaching it like a short track. Wood also promises to attack the flat raceway with a short-track mentality – and that means not backing away from a challenge and pushing ahead.
WHAT THE TEAM HAS TO SAY
Jon Wood, driver of the No. 47 Clorox All Ford Fusion:
“It’s never good to tear up a race car, but were real happy with our Clorox Ford Fusion at Texas last week. It’s the best car I’ve had all year. All the hard work from everyone on this race team is paying off. Our cars are getting better and better. I was an innocent victim in the crash at Texas. That doesn’t mean much to the guys back at the shop to have to re-build these cars.
“We’re taking a package to Phoenix that we worked on during our test at Richmond. I think we’re going to be good. When you tear up some cars, it’s natural to take it easy and be conservative. We won’t be reckless, but we’re going there to run in the Top 10 to push ourselves in position to win the race. To do that, you have to keep digging. You have to keep pushing ahead.”
Scott Zipadelli, Crew Chief of the No. 47 Clorox Ford Fusion:
“We have two cars ready for Phoenix, so we’re not behind back at the shop. What’s more frustrating than the wrecks is the fact we’ve had good cars. We learn something every week and we’ve been slowly improving every week. Now we need some good finishes. A couple Top-10 finishes sure would help us dig our way out of the hole.”
