DAVE BLANEY PULLS ACROSS TOWN “DOUBLE-DUTY” IN INDIANAPOLIS:
Dave Blaney will have traffic to contend with on and off the race track this weekend. He will compete in the Nextel Cup event at Indianapolis Motor Speedway as well as the Busch Series race across town at O’Reilly Raceway Park. Blaney will have a helicopter on hand to help him manage the commute!
Although he hasn’t raced at O’Reilly Raceway Park since 1999, Dave Blaney remembers how to get around the hair-pin turns of the famed short-track. In two starts at the Indianapolis .686-mile oval, Blaney started inside the top-20 both times. Running into trouble in both events, Blaney finished 33rd in 1998 and 38th in 1999.
BLANEY ON RACING AT O’REILLY RACEWAY PARK:
“It’s exciting to have a short track race next on the schedule. We’ve been racing on a lot of mile, mile and a half tracks lately so it will be nice to take on a different challenge this weekend. I haven’t raced at ORP in a long time but I’m looking forward to it. With the schedule set up like it is, we’ll only get one practice in the Busch car so we’ll have our work cut out for us. This team is capable of preparing a great car with only half the time. We need a good race to pick us up from the disappointment of last weekend at Gateway.”
EQUIPMENT INFORMATION:
The No. 10 Fan1st.com team will compete with chassis #28 in Saturday’s Kroger 200. This is the same chassis that Blaney raced at Phoenix International Raceway and Richmond International Raceway where he finished 10th and 16th respectively. Todd Bodine also drove this chassis to a sixth place finish at The Milwaukee Mile.
