No. 77 Dollar General Stores Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Team Report
NASCAR Busch Series Race 15 of 35—Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway
DOVER (DEL.) INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY RACE RECAP:
Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI), team co-owner Kevin Harvick climbed behind the wheel of the No. 77 Dollar General stores Chevrolet for the third time this season. Harvick qualified the No. 77 29th on the starting grid at Dover (Del.) International Speedway. The last words out of Harvick’s mouth before the field took the green were, “when the green flag drops I’m going to be driving like a Tasmanian Devil.” That is exactly what Harvick did. He drove from a 29th starting position through the field to bring the Dollar General stores Chevrolet across the start/finish line to a seventh-place finish. The Dollar General stores Chevrolet moved four positions in the NASCAR Busch Series Owner Points Standings to 11th.
NASHVILLE (TENN.) SUPERSPEEDWAY FACTS & STATS:
FIFTH TIME’S A CHARM: Kertus Davis will make his fifth NASCAR Busch Series start at the Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway. Returning to the seat of the No. 77 Dollar General stores Chevrolet, Kertus has made three previous starts for Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) in the 2007 NASCAR Busch Series season.
PRESENTED BY DOLLAR GENERAL: Dollar General has signed on as the presenting sponsor of the Federated Auto Parts 300 at the Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway. The partnership between Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway and Dollar General is a natural fit with Dollar General corporate offices located 40-miles from the Superspeedway in Goodlettsville, Tenn.
ARCA TESTING HELPS TEAM BUILDING: Kertus Davis and the Dollar General stores team tested an Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) car two weeks ago. Davis is scheduled to race an ARCA event later in the season. The Dollar General stores team and driver benefitted from the one-day test. “It helps the crew guys that are still learning,” explained Wally Rogers. “It gives our entire team a chance to bond and work on our team communication. It’s not always easy when you are at the race track week-in and week-out, because it’s always so rushed and everyone is focused on the job at hand for that weekend. It’s helpful to go and have time to talk over set-ups and changes and how everyone can contribute.”
TRACKSIDE LIVE IN POCONO: Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI), team co-owner Kevin Harvick will visit SPEED Channel’s Trackside Live hosts Jeff Hammond, Darrell Waltrip and Steve Byrnes on Friday night at the Pocono (Penn.) Raceway. Harvick has a surprise announcement to make for Dollar General.
THREE WEEKS IN A ROW FOR KERTUS DAVIS: Kertus Davis shares the No. 77 Dollar General stores Chevrolet with Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI), team co-owner Kevin Harvick, and Nextel Cup Series Champion Bobby Labonte. Davis has been slated to race in 13 events in the 2007 season, and for three weeks in a row he’ll have the opportunity to go back-to-back race weekends. Davis will kick off his three-week run at Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway, followed by Kentucky Speedway and The Milwaukee (Wisc.) Mile.
KERTUS DAVIS QUOTES:
THOUGHTS ON RACING AT NASHVILLE (TENN.) SUPERSPEEDWAY: “Honestly, it’s been eating at me that I haven’t been in the Dollar General stores Chevrolet so I’m excited to have the chance to climb behind the wheel. It will be my fourth race this season in the Dollar General stores car and I’m really looking forward to it. It’s great to go back to Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway and really be able to show what the Dollar General stores Chevrolet can do. I’m very excited that Nashville will kick off my three race stint this summer. I’ll be able to race at Nashville (Tenn., Superspeedway), Kentucky (Speedway), and The Milwaukee Mile (Wisc.) three weeks in a row.”
