Clorox Ford Fusion Team Readies For Nashville
No. 47 CLOROX FORD READY TO ROCK AND ROLL IN NASHVILLE
Scott Zipadelli knows racing involves more than speed. It also involves making adjustments and reacting to ever-changing conditions. That’s why he’s not worried about the No. 47 Clorox Ford at this Saturday’s Federated Auto Parts 300 at the Nashville Superspeedway.
Driver Jon Wood missed last week’s race at Dover, Del., when he fell ill after the first practice session. Undaunted, the Wood Brothers/JTG Racing team asked Mark Martin to drive the car in the final practice session, and former truck series champion Travis Kvapil to drive in the race.
Wood apparently was misdiagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder and he had an adverse reaction to mediation to treat it, said his father and co-owner, Eddie Wood.
Zipadelli, the team’s crew chief, said the team will take the same car to Nashville that raced at Dover because it reacts best to a concrete racetrack.
WHAT THE TEAM HAS TO SAY
Scott Zipadelli, Crew Chief of the No. 47 Clorox Ford Fusion:
“We’ve got a good car for Nashville and we’re really looking forward to the race. As a race team, you prepare for any situation. That’s what we did. We’ll take a great race car to Nashville and we’ll go from there.
“The important thing for Jon is to feel better. There’s no timetable, no hurry to make that happen. We’ll take it race-by-race and go from there. That’s what racing’s all about – making adjustments.
“We’ve been real pleased with our progress this year. Progress in racing doesn’t happen in big steps. T’s a little here, a little there. We’ve been making small steps just about every week. The goal is to continue that at Nashville.”
Update:
While Jon Wood recovers, team development driver Kelly Bires will be behind the wheel of the Clorox/American Red Cross Ford. Bires has been driving the team's Craftsman Truck Series Entry.
