SCOTT WIMMER QUOTES:
Your best finish in the No. 29 Holiday Inn Chevy came in Nashville this year. Talk about that run.
“We had a really good run the last time we were in Nashville with the Holiday Inn car. We ran into some issues there at the end of the race but we still managed to run strong all day and came out with a top-10 finish. I am excited to go back there with the Holiday Inn team and run back-to-back weeks on concrete tracks.”
What is it about Nashville Superspeedway that you tend to run well there?
“I raced the inaugural race at Nashville in 2001 and just fell in love with the place. I have always enjoyed the city and going down there and racing, especially at the old fairgrounds track. I think it is the perfect size race track for our cars. It’s just over a mile, it has banking and it is concrete which seems to help the racing. I really like going to tracks that size and I think the racing is always good.”
What are the differences between concrete and pavement and do you have a preference?
“I have been known to do really well on concrete tracks. Some of my best runs have come at Dover, Bristol and Nashville. The car seems to have more grip and you can drive it a little harder without it sliding. The thing I like about concrete is that the track conditions don’t change a whole lot. It can be real hot or cold and you don’t have to deal with the temperature changing the track. You just deal with your race car and how it’s changing. The biggest difference between the surfaces is the impact that the temperature has. I enjoy racing on concrete because you don’t have to adjust to the track all day long … you adjust to your race car.”
