Clint Bowyer
No. 2 BB&T Chevrolet
Event Preview Fact Sheet

Event/Date: Federated Auto Parts 300 presented by Dollar General – June 9, 2007
Venue: Nashville Superspeedway – Lebanon, Tenn.

NOTES:

  • This Week’s BB&T Chevrolet at Nashville Superspeedway … Clint Bowyer will pilot Chassis No. 047 from the Richard Childress Racing (RCR) stable. This is the same car Bowyer raced last March at Las Vegas (St. 8, Fn. 9), in April at Phoenix (St. 16, Fn. 21), in May at Richmond (St. 2, Fn. 7), in June at Milwaukee (St. 4, Fn. 18), in July at New Hampshire (St. 5, Fn. 2), in October at Memphis (St. 19, Fn. 2) and again at Phoenix in November (St. 17, Fn. 14). Since then, this BB&T Chevrolet has received all the required 2007 updates including a new body.
  • In the Loop at Nashville … In six starts at Nashville Superspeedway, Bowyer has an impressive 6.2 starting average and a staggering 2.8 finishing average. The Emporia, Kan., driver has one win, a pair of runner-up efforts, a third, fourth and fifth-place finishes. Over that same span, he has completed all 1,350 laps contested and has earned just shy of $250,000.
  • Back Where it all Started … Nashville Superspeedway is the site of Bowyer’s first ARCA RE/MAX Series start. With a skeleton crew and a car fielded by fellow Kansan Scott Traylor, Bowyer started seventh, led 47 laps and finished second by a scant 1.58 seconds to Mario Gosselin on August 9, 2003. As fate would have it, RCR team owner Richard Childress was watching the race on SPEED from his motorcoach at Watkins Glen and ultimately inked Bowyer to a contract in November of the same year.
  • 800 Miles and Then Some … As he pursues his third Busch Series win of 2007, Bowyer will commute 3,220 miles between Nashville Superspeedway and Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Penn where the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series competes this weekend. The 28-year-old driver will depart Pocono via helicopter, immediately following qualifying on Friday afternoon, and head for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton airport before boarding teammate Kevin Harvick’s Lear 31bound for Symrna (Tenn.) Airport. If all goes according to plan, Bowyer will practice the BB&T Chevy Friday night before returning to Pocono that evening to practice the Jack Daniel’s Chevy twice the following day. On Saturday, he will head back to Nashville in time to qualify and race the No. 2 machine and return to Pocono that night.
  • Standing By … Brandon Miller will be on hand in Nashville to get the BB&T Chevy dialed in before Bowyer makes the trip Friday night. If weather in Pocono becomes a hindrance, Miller will qualify the car as well.
  • Dirt’s for Racing – Pavement’s for Getting There … On Tuesday, June 5 Bowyer will race his Jack Daniel’s-sponsored dirt modified as part of the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) event at Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa. On Wednesday, June 6 Bowyer will head for Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio to race his Jack Daniel’s –sponsored dirt late model in the third annual NEXTEL Prelude to the Dream. The NEXTEL Prelude to the Dream is an event unique to Eldora Speedway and pits NEXTEL Cup drivers against one another in 2,300 pound dirt late models which produce in excess of 800 horsepower. For more information on the NEXTEL Prelude to the Dream visit eldoraspeedway.com.
  • Hard to Argue with Stats … In nine NASCAR Busch Series starts this season, Bowyer has two wins, six top-five and seven top-10 finishes. The five-time Busch Series winner has also led 160 laps. Despite competing in only nine of the division’s first 14 races, the 28-year-old driver is 15th in points.
  • On the Hunt … RCR team owner Richard Childress, along with his wife Judy and grandsons Austin and Ty Dillon are in New Zealand this week. Childress and the Dillon duo are hunting Red Stag, Chamois and Tahr.
  • Catch the Cup Action … The Pocono 500 from Pocono Raceway will take the green flag Sunday, June 10 at 2 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). The race will be televised live on TNT beginning at 12:30 p.m. EDT. and broadcast from coast-to-coast on the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and Sirius Satellite Radio. Qualifying for the 14th race on the 2007 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series schedule will be televised live on SPEED Friday, June 8 at 3:30 p.m. EDT.
  • Up to Speed … Live coverage of the Federated Auto Parts 300 presented by Dollar General will take the green flag Saturday, June 9 beginning at 7 p.m. EDT. The race will be televised live on ESPN2 and broadcast on MRN and Sirius Satellite Radio. Qualifying for the 15th race on the 2007 Busch Series calendar is scheduled to be televised live on ESPN2 the same day at 3 p.m. EDT.

    CLINT BOWYER QUOTES:
It’s pretty hard to argue with your Nashville stats. I’ll bet you were hard-pressed to miss the first race at Nashville this year.
“I’m looking forward to going to Nashville, no doubt about it. I’ve had a lot of success over there and haven’t ever finished outside the top five. Hopefully, we can keep that rolling. I want another guitar.”

It seems like you could almost fall out of bed and finish in the top five at Nashville.
“I don’t know what it is … we’ve just always run well at Nashville. It’s the first big track I ever ran so it seems like it just fits my driving style. We gave a few away – don’t let me kid you – so this time I’m going to redeem myself for the five races I lost. I think we could have had two or maybe three more of those guitars so I’m going over there to get another one.”

What about the back and forth? How tough is that?
“It’s not too bad. Our plan was to use Richard’s (Childress) jet but he’s out of the country so Kevin (Harvick) has agreed to let me use his plane and it’s a little faster than mine. A fast airplane helps and Kevin’s is plenty fast. Hopefully, the weather in Pocono cooperates and we can get to Nashville in time to practice on Friday night. It might be a little close on Saturday because there always seems to be fog or rain in Pocono that weekend which tends to push things back a little bit. If everything goes according to plan, I’ll be able to practice, qualify and race. Brandon (Miller) will be there to get the BB&T Chevy dialed in Friday afternoon so it’s ready when I get there Friday night.”
