Pepsi 300 - Cale Gale Notes

Cale Gale
No. 33 Camping World Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS
Team Report
NASCAR Busch Series Race 7 of 35— Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway

SHARPIE MINI 300 RACE RECAP: Kevin Harvick and the No. 33 Bounty Super Duty Shop Towels racing team finished eighth at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway in the Sharpie Mini 300. Harvick and company put on a thrilling show at the “World’s Fastest Half-Mile” in a caution-filled race that totaled 12 cautions for 103 laps and one red-flag stop. With his fifth top-10 finish of the year, Harvick maintains the second spot in the 2007 driver point standings, 197 markers out of the lead. Harvick, who is running a partial schedule, has already missed one race (Mexico City, Mexico) this season and will take this weekend off as well in Nashville (Tenn.).

LUCKY NO. 5: When Cale Gale straps into the No. 33 Camping World Chevrolet this week, he will be making his fifth career NASCAR Busch Series start. The Mobile, Ala. native made his Busch Series debut in 2006 when he jumped behind the wheel of the No. 1 Miccosukee Gaming & Resort car for James Finch. After three starts, Gale made the move to Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) where he competed in a Busch Series race at Memphis (Tenn.) Motorsports Park. He qualified a respectable 15th for the start and had an impressive day. The race was slowed by 15 caution flag periods with Gale being involved in two of them, both times because of another competitor. The young driver never gave up and continued to battle for positions all day long, before finishing the day in the 25th position.

DOUBLE DUTY: In addition to racing the No. 33 Camping World Chevrolet in Saturday’s Pepsi 300, Gale will drive KHI’s No. 33 Chevrolet in the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) 150 race earlier that day. Gale was victorious in his last ARCA start in 2006 at Gateway (Ill.) International Raceway in Madison, Illinois.

THREE’S COMPANY: In 2007, Cale Gale will have the opportunity to drive in three different racing series for KHI. Gale will drive the No. 33 Camping World Chevrolet in the NASCAR Busch Series for seven events. He will also sit behind the wheel of the No. 2 Camping World Chevrolet in four NASCAR Truck Series races. Cale will drive the No. 33 Chevrolet in four Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) races this season to give him a total of 15 events.

FIVE DRIVERS AND A CREW CHIEF: This week will mark the fifth driver behind the wheel of the No. 33 KHI Chevrolet. Crew Chief Dan Stillman has kept the No. 33 KHI Chevrolet inside the top-10 in the NASCAR Owners point standings all season long with the help of four drivers and a fifth making his debut this weekend (Cale Gale). Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart, Ron Fellows, Tony Raines and Cale Gale will all pilot the No. 33 Chevrolet for KHI in 2007.

TAKE A SEAT: Gale sat behind the wheel of the No. 33 Chevrolet last week in Richmond (Va.) for Busch Series testing. Gale tested the car with NEXTEL Cup regular and teammate Tony Raines. His time in the seat provided a great chance for the crew and driver to get comfortable with each other before heading to Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway.

CALE GALE QUOTES:

ON NASHVILLE SUPERSPEEDWAY: "The Nashville Superspeedway is a fun track and the layout makes for great racing with some good places for passing. I think this is a perfect track to make my 2007 NASCAR Busch Series debut and I can’t wait to go out there and race.”

ON RACING THE ARCA AND NASCAR BUSCH SERIES EVENTS IN THE SAME DAY: “I first want to thank Kevin and DeLana for this great opportunity they have given me. Racing in the ARCA 150 will only give me more experience leading into the Busch race.”

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FORWARD TO IN 2007?: “I'm looking forward to getting an opportunity to drive for KHI in three different series in 2007. I have one start under my belt this season at the NASCAR Truck Series opener in Daytona. We finished 14th and I look to better that this weekend in Nashville in the Busch Series. I think the more seat time I have racing at this level, the better race car driver I will become. It also helps to have a Daytona 500 Champion in Kevin Harvick in my corner as well.”

DAN STILLMAN QUOTES:

ON CALE GALE MAKING HIS FIRST START OF THE SEASON IN THE BUSCH SERIES: “I’ve had this race on my radar for a long time. This kid is ready to race. He has shown what he can do during each test season and now he is ready to prove it. He helps each day in the shop as well as at the track and knows what it takes to make the car better.”

KEVIN HARVICK QUOTES:

ON CALE GALE: “I was really impressed with Cale’s racing background, his knowledge of race cars and what he has accomplished so far in his career. We wanted to give him some more seat time in both the Busch and Truck Series. He had a shot at the end of last season in Memphis. He did a great job that day. He kept his head down, ran the entire race and gained some valuable experience. His drive and determination are two of the qualities that DeLana and I recognized from the beginning. He has that winning attitude and that’s what we want at KHI.”
