DAVID RAGAN IN THE No. 6 DISCOUNT TIRE FORD WAS THE RAYBESTOS ROOKIE OF THE RACE AT NEW HAMPSHIRE.
Note:
Ragan finished 18th and took Raybestos Rookie of the Race honors for the sixth time this season.
RAGAN: “A little disappointing. We feel like we’re a top-10 team every week whether we’re at a Bristol or a Daytona or a road course. You know, that was kind of an ugly race. We never had good track position or we did but we weren’t good enough to keep it. This wasn’t the car that we wanted to bring. We thought it’d be a little bit better. It just goes to show how much competition is here in the Busch Series. You’ve got to bring your best stuff every week. If you think you can get by running something a little less competitive it’s just not going to happen. Still a top-20 is okay but we’re a better race team than that, better pit crew than that. We just need to do better.” DO FRESH TIRES MAKE A DIFFERENCE HERE? “Well if you don’t have a car that can pass under green you’ve got to do something to try to get some track position and try to make up some ground. We thought we could get in some clean air and maybe hold ‘em off for a little while. Like I said, when you don’t have the car to pass under green you have to take some chances. But we’ve got to learn our lesson on normal weekends when we do have a good car we’ve got to do what the leaders do. We’re still learning. It was kind of an ugly top finishing Raybestos Rookie [smiles]. I guess that’s a little bit of a highlight.”
MARCOS AMBROSE, No. 59 KINGSFORD FORD: YOU SALVAGED A DECENT FINISH TODAY. “I got spun out there. I was really worried about the first 30,40 laps of this race. I said to the guys I’ve got a feeling and I’m going to be super-conservative and we tried to be that way. Stuff happened out there. I got stuck on someone’s car and couldn’t get off [smiles]. I told the guys to give me a push and they didn’t want to push me off. If they had lifted the back of the car and give it shove we would have got away from there and not lost a lap but that’s the way it goes.” HOW WAS THE CAR BEFORE THAT? “It was okay. It was just okay.”
BOBBY SANTOS, No. 91 RILEY-D’HONDT MOTORSPORTS TOYOTA: “We had a fast car, a top-10 car, but we just got wrecked [smiles]. Not much you can do about that, I guess.” YOU STARTED THIRD IN TODAY’S RACE. HOW SPECIAL WAS IT TO RUN WELL HERE? “It’s good but it would have been a lot nicer if we finished good. To me it doesn’t mean anything unless you finish good. It’s disappointing. The team did a good job. We had a fast car. It was fun race today and run car to drive.”
JUAN PABLO MONTOYA, No. 42 TEXACO/HAVOLINE DODGE: “I just got hit by Clint, I think, and spun. It’s a disappointing day. You know, we had a great car. We’ve been free and competitive the last few races. All the Texaco/Havoline Dodge cars did an amazing job this week. We had a great car.”
