Camping World 200 - Tony Stewart Notes

Tony Stewart
No. 33 Old Spice Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS
Team Report
NASCAR Busch Series Race 18 of 35—New Hampshire International Speedway

AT&T 250 RECAP: After a strong showing at the Kentucky Speedway, Cale Gale and the No. 33 team arrived at The Milwaukee (Wis.) Mile with sights set on another strong run in the AT&T 250. Unfortunately, Gale battled a tight-handling race car throughout the 250-lap event. After starting 28th, Gale was able to avoid numerous collisions to finish in the 23rd position. With this run, the No. 33 Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) Chevrolet maintains the fifth spot in the 2007 NASCAR Busch Series Owner point standings. The team is currently 52 points behind fourth-place car owner Richard Childress and the No. 21 Chevrolet.

LOOKING FOR EIGHT STRAIGHT: Tony Stewart will be looking for eight straight top-10 finishes for Kevin Harvick Inc., dating back to the Michigan International Speedway in 2006. Stewart’s last race for KHI came six weeks ago at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway where Stewart finished seventh.

SECOND TIME AROUND: The Camping World 200 presented by RVs.com will be the second NASCAR Busch Series race that Stewart has entered at New Hampshire International Speedway. The Rushville, Ind. native made his only other start at the ‘Magic Mile’ in 1998 at the Gumont Long Life Formula 200, where Stewart started 13th and finished second.

GOOD PLACE TO RACE: Even though Stewart only has one Busch Series start at the New Hampshire International Speedway, he still really enjoys the track. “Obviously, I like it because I’ve had success there. But at the same time, it’s a tough track to pass on,” said Stewart. “You can be a couple of tenths faster than a guy, but it still takes you 20 laps to get by him,” Stewart continued. “There are other tracks on the circuit where it’s hard to pass, but we still go out and put on good shows there, too. Every race at Loudon seems to be a pretty good race. So, I like it. I enjoy racing there even though it is hard to pass. But when you’ve got a good car, it’s always fun to race.”

DID YOU KNOW?: Tony Stewart has 71 career NASCAR Busch Series starts. In those 71 starts, Stewart has two wins (Daytona ’05, ’06), four poles, 17 top-five and 23 top-10 finishes. Stewart’s two Busch Series wins both came driving KHI Chevrolets.

STEWART PULLING DOUBLE-DUTY: Tony Stewart will pull double-duty this weekend at the New Hampshire International Speedway for the seventh time this season. Stewart will compete in the Camping World 200 Busch Series event on Saturday with Kevin Harvick Inc. and the Lenox Industrial Tools 300 Cup Series race on Sunday with Joe Gibbs Racing.

OWNER’S ‘POINT’ OF VIEW: After 17 straight weeks inside the top-10 in NASCAR Busch Series Owner points, DeLana Harvick, co-owner of the No. 33 Kevin Harvick Inc., Chevrolet is happy with the team’s position midway through the season. “Any time you have multiple driver’s behind the wheel it’s challenging, even if you’ve got the some of the best, and we’ve got a great group with Tony (Stewart), Kevin (Harvick), Tony (Raines), Ron (Fellows) and Cale (Gale),” Harvick said. “It’s more difficult for the team to get into a rhythm, but I think our Dan Stillman-lead team has done a fantastic job this season. We are fifth in the Owner’s points battle and I think that says a lot about the strength of our team.”

OPERATION WAX SMOKE: KHI Busch Series driver Tony Stewart said on his SIRIUS radio show that if someone would make a $100,000 donation to the Victory Junction Gang Camp (VJGC), he would wax his chest and back. “I thought it was a hilarious way to raise money for an excellent cause. I am calling on my fans (and Tony's too!) to make a donation in an effort to raise $100,000 for the Victory Junction Gang Camp,” said Kevin Harvick. “Plus, it’s a way to have a good laugh at Tony's expense.” For more information please visit our website, www.kevinharvick.com, to find out how you can be a part of "Operation: Wax Smoke!”

ONE MILLION REASONS: Last year at the New Hampshire International Speedway, Old Spice driver Tony Stewart donated $1 million dollars to the Victory Junction Gang Camp. Stewart, who has already donated $1 million dollars to the camp in the past, pledged to donate another $1 million dollars over the next few years. "This is something, no matter how many race wins or championships I have in my career, the donations we make are part of something that will last hopefully a lifetime," Stewart said. "It makes those wins not even seem near as important. Being able to donate $1 million seems like a bigger victory."

MEET TWO OF THE FIVE: Cale Gale and Tony Raines, which are two of the five No. 33 KHI drivers, will be on hand this weekend at the New Hampshire International Speedway to sign autographs and meet fans. Tony Raines will sign autographs on Friday from 10-11 a.m., while Cale Gale will sign autographs on Friday from 11-12 p.m. and Saturday from 9-10 a.m. It will take place at the Camping World display just outside turns one and two.

Tony Stewart Quotes:
Explain a lap around New Hampshire: “It’s a big motor deal. With the corners being so tight, you’ve got to put a lot of gear in the car to get it up off the corner. Forward bite is always an issue there too – trying to get the car to go forward. So, it’s hard to get up off the corners. Then you’ve got long straightaways where you can kind of relax a little bit. Coming into the corners, you use a lot of brake, and it’s hard to not only get the car stopped, but to get it to turn. Then you go through that challenge all over again.”

Dan Stillman Quotes:
On New Hampshire International Speedway: "New Hampshire International Speedway is a flat track that is fun to race on, but at the same time it is hard to pass on. I know we have Stewart behind the wheel this weekend and yet he only has one Busch Series start there, his NEXTEL Cup stats show that he has what it takes to win at the Magic Mile.”
