Team Report
NASCAR Busch Series Race 17 of 35— The Milwaukee (Wis.) Mile
MEIJER 300 RACE RECAP: NASCAR Busch Series rookie driver Cale Gale showed the 80,000 plus race fans at the Kentucky Speedway that his self-confidence off the track matched his patience on the track. Gale, who battled inside the top 20 most of the night, held off a late-race charge from Jason Leffler to record a career-best 13th-place finish in the Meijer 300 at Kentucky Speedway. With this run by Gale, the No. 33 Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) Chevrolet moves into the fifth position in the 2007 NASCAR Busch Series Owner points standings. The team is currently 67 points behind fourth-place car owner Richard Childress and the No. 21 Chevrolet.
FIRST TIMER: When Cale Gale arrives at The Milwaukee (Wis.) Mile this weekend, it will be his first time competing on the one-mile oval. The Mobile, Ala., native will get a little extra track time because he will have opportunity to participate in NASCAR’s rookie practice.
HOMECOMING: Dan Stillman, crew chief for the No. 33 Camping World Chevrolet will be returning to his home state of Wisconsin this weekend. The Menasha, Wisconsin native loves the opportunity to race at The Milwaukee (Wis.) Mile. “This is a great chance for my mother and father to come see me do what I love to do,” said Stillman who gives a lot of credit to his parents. “My mother and father took me as a kid to some local short tracks in Wisconsin and that is what lit the spark for my love of racing. From there it evolved into me working on race cars.”
CAREER BEST: This past weekend at the Kentucky Speedway marked Gale’s best ever starting and finishing position in the NASCAR Busch Series. After qualifying eighth and finishing 13th, Gale thinks he has more in store this weekend at The Milwaukee (Wis.) Mile. “I think we have good momentum heading into this weekend in Milwaukee (Wis.) and hopefully we can get our first top 10 finish of the year,” said Gale.
ROUND THREE: Cale Gale will round out his three-week stint behind the wheel of the No. 33 Camping World Chevrolet this weekend in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. During the 2007 season, Gale will drive the No. 33 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Busch Series for a total of seven events. He will also sit behind the wheel of the No. 2 Camping World Chevrolet in five NASCAR Truck Series races. Cale will also drive the No. 33 Chevrolet in four Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) races this season to give him a total of 16 events.
GOING FOR TWO IN A ROW: When crew chief Dan Stillman returns to his home state of Wisconsin this weekend he will be looking for back to back wins at The Milwaukee (Wis.) Mile. Last year Stillman was the crew chief at Dale Earnhardt Inc., for driver Paul Menard. Menard held off Denny Hamlin to win the 2006 AT&T 250. “This was a great win for Paul and myself. I hope we can go back up there and do the same thing with Cale and this entire Camping World team,” said Stillman.
CHASSIS 023: The AT&T 250 at The Milwaukee (Wisc.) Mile will be the fourth start for chassis 023 in 2007. In its previous starts, chassis 023 raced at Bristol, Nashville and Richmond.
