TIM MCCREADIE NOTES:
This Week’s Race Car at The Milwaukee Mile … Tim McCreadie will race chassis No. 058 from the Richard Childress Racing (RCR) NASCAR Busch Series stable. This race car last saw action earlier this season at Phoenix International Raceway with driver Timothy Peters behind the wheel. Peters started 29th and finished 13th. Additionally, Kevin Harvick was four for five with this Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS in 2006, earning victories at Martinsville Speedway (July 22) Indianapolis Raceway Park (Aug. 5), Richmond International Raceway (Sept. 8) and Memphis Motorsports Park (Oct. 29) before finishing second November 11 at Phoenix International Raceway.
Throwing Him in the Deep End … RCR development driver Tim McCreadie will make his first NASCAR Busch Series start this weekend at The Milwaukee Mile behind the wheel of RCR’s No. 21 Camping World Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS. McCreadie, 33, has only three career asphalt starts to his credit and finished fourth in his ARCA Series debut last weekend Michigan International Speedway. Prior to last Friday, McCreadie finished 11th in his NASCAR West Series debut in April at Phoenix International Raceway and followed that up with a 10th-place run on May 20 at Iowa Speedway.
Tell Me a Little Bit About Yourself … Watertown, N.Y., native Tim McCreadie is one of two RCR developmental drivers who currently competes in the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series. The 2006 World of Outlaws Late Model champion, 2006 Chili Bowl Midget Nationals champion and 2006 Eastern Motorsports Press Association Driver of the Year also runs his own dirt late model program.
RCR at Milwaukee … In 15 previous Busch Series starts at The Milwaukee Mile, RCR has posted one win (Ron Hornaday, Jr., June 2003), two poles (Kevin Harvick, July 2001 and Johnny Sauter, June 2003), three top-five and five top-10 finishes. RCR cars have also led 287 laps.
Up to Speed … The AT&T 250 at The Milwaukee Mile will be televised live Saturday, June 23 beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on ESPN2 and be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and Sirius Satellite Radio. Qualifying for the 17th of 35 NASCAR Busch Series events will air live on SPEED the same day at 5:30 p.m. EDT.
TIM MCCREADIE QUOTES:
You will be making your NASCAR Busch Series debut this weekend. What are your expectations?
“I’m real excited about running the No. 21 Camping World Chevrolet this weekend at The Milwaukee Mile. I’m honored and fortunate to be behind the wheel of a high-powered race car. RCR’s track record in the Busch Series proves that we can get the job done. I’m hoping to have a real clean race while gaining track experience at the same time. My goal is to leave Milwaukee with a top-10 finish for the Camping World team.”
Does Harvick’s history with this race car give you confidence going into the weekend?
“Kevin’s track record with this car is amazing and it definitely gives me a lot of confidence going into the weekend. My goal is to keep the good finish streak alive. I know that Shane (Wilson) and the rest of the team work hard week in and week out to build and prepare great race cars. I’m excited to work with Shane and look forward to learning from the championship team.”
Do you feel that competing in NASCAR’s West Series has helped you with getting to know the asphalt style tracks?
“It has helped me a little bit but I still have a long way to go. I have only competed in two West Series races so far this year so I’m still learning the asphalt tracks. I did run Phoenix in April and that track is a lot like The Milwaukee Mile, so hopefully the little time I had on that track will help me wheel around Milwaukee.”
