Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Pre-Race Report
After a disappointing start to the season in Daytona, 26-year-old driver Justin Diercks and his ML Motorsports team are ready to roll the dice in Las Vegas.
Diercks and the Warsaw, Indiana-based team will attempt to qualify for the March 10 Sam's Town 300 NASCAR Busch Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Neither Diercks nor Team 70 has competed in a race at LVMS, though they did participate in the test there in early February.
Diercks and Co. are scheduled to participate in 19 NBS races this year. They attempted to qualify for the season opener at Daytona International Speedway but fell just short. Diercks qualified 38th on speed, but with the top 30 in points from last year guaranteed a
spot in the 43-car field, Diercks was left out of the show. He out-qualified seven drivers who made the race. Diercks was 11th quick in final practice before at Daytona.
Diercks and ML Motorsports qualified for seven NBS races last year, with their best start and best finish being 28th.
Diercks will be participating in the Raybestos® Rookie Cooking Class Thursday, March 8th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm in the ESPN Zone at the New York-New York Hotel and Casino. The drivers participate in a cooking class with the ESPN Zone culinary team and will then prepare dishes they learned to cook. Kids from the Boys and Girls Club of Las Vegas will judge the competition. Following the cooking competition, drivers and kids will play games and have a light snack. The drivers will also participate in photo opportunities and media interviews.
