Reed Sorenson and the No. 41 Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit Dodge Team Facts:
What a Leap!: After Scott Pruett and the Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit team wrapped up the weekend with a top-five finish in Mexico City, Mexico, the No. 41 Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) Busch team took 18 steps forward in the NASCAR Busch Series owner point standings. They now stand 26th in the overall ranks, just 60 points out of the top 10.
Top-10 Performance All Around: Sorenson averaged an eighth-place running position in the Busch race at LVMS last year and then finished it 10th. The 21-year-old driver has recorded two Busch starts at Vegas which have both resulted in top-10 finishes.
Testing Things Out: Sorenson and the No. 41 Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit team tested at the Nevada, 1.5-mile tri-oval last month to prepare for this weekend’s race, which will mark the young racer’s 77th-career Busch start.
Chassis: The No. 41 Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit team will race chassis #556 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend. Crew chief Brian Pattie and the No. 41 team ran the same car at Kansas Speedway last September when Sorenson and team maintained an average running position of seventh place all day to call it a day just the same (started fourth). In June 2006, the same car helped Sorenson and the CGRFS team average a 10th-place running position the entire 200-lap race at Dover International Speedway before finishing it just the same—in 10th place (started 16th). Chassis #556 was entered in a total of five races last year, helping the No. 41 team score two top-five starts and two top-10 finishes.
Tune in: The 300-mile Las Vegas Motor Speedway Busch Series race is scheduled to start at noon PT/3 p.m. ET Saturday, March 10, and will broadcast live on ABC, PRN (Radio) and Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 128.
Clauson Goes Green This Weekend: CGRFS development driver Bryan Clauson will return to green-flag racing this weekend in Florida, running in the Georgia Asphalt Series (GAS) event in Pensacola. The GAS competition is just the beginning of Clauson’s action-packed year. In addition to graduating from high school in May and celebrating an 18th birthday in June, Clauson is scheduled to compete in more than 30 races between now and the end of November. His competition schedule includes a combination of GAS, ARCA, ASA Challenge, ASA North and USAC. Clauson will then take over the wheel of the No. 41 Busch Dodge this fall to compete in seven of the last eight Busch races of the 2007 season for primary sponsor Memorex.
