Dollar General 300 - Kyle Busch Notes

PREVIEW: KYLE BUSCH (NO. 5 STA-GREEN WINTERIZER WEED & FEED/LOWE'S CHEVROLET)
VENUE: LOWE'S MOTOR SPEEDWAY (1.5-MILE QUAD-OVAL)
CIRCUIT: NASCAR BUSCH SERIES (RACE 31 OF 35)
EVENT: FRIDAY, OCT. 12, 2007 (200 LAPS, 300 MILES)

TEAM 5 STATS: The No. 5 Sta-Green Winterizer Weed & Feed/Lowe's team earned its third victory of the 2007 NASCAR Busch Series season at Kansas Speedway two weeks ago. In 16 starts this season, the team has earned 12 top-five finishes and 14 top-10s, while pacing the Busch Series with 958 laps led.

HITTING THEIR STRIDE: The No. 5 Busch Series crew has scored three wins this season -- Daytona, Richmond and Kansas -- all of which have come in the team's last six races. The win at Kansas Speedway was Busch's 10th, and it came in his 105th NBS start. The No. 5 Chevrolet has also earned six straight top-five finishes.

LMS A MILESTONE TRACK: Lowe's Motor Speedway has been a milestone marker throughout the course of Busch's Busch Series career. On May 24, 2003, he made his very first Busch Series start for Hendrick Motorsports, starting fifth and finishing second to Matt Kenseth. Busch also scored back-to-back Memorial Day weekend CARQUEST Auto Parts 300 wins at the 1.5-mile track in 2004 and 2005.

TRUSTY CHASSIS 356: Crew chief Mike Bumgarner has selected Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 356 for Saturday's Busch Series race at Lowe's Motor Speedway. The car has been driven by Busch and Mark Martin at each of the intermediate tracks this season, earning one pole, six top-five finishes and seven top-10s. It most recently earned a victory at Kansas Speedway and has led a total of 389 laps.

KYLE BUSCH, DRIVER OF THE NO. 5 STA-GREEN WINTERIZER WEED & FEED /LOWE'S CHEVROLET: (ON THE CHANCES OF WINNING AGAIN AT HIS SPONSOR'S HOME TRACK.) "Of course we can (LAUGHS). We ran OK in the spring at Lowe's -- we finished 12th and weren't that great. But we have some momentum right now with the wins at Richmond (Va.) and Kansas, so I would love to win one more in the No. 5 car at Lowe's. It's good to win where your sponsor has its name on the walls. It makes it that much sweeter."

BUSCH: (ON EXPECTING TO WIN.) "You have to stay humble in this sport. It's happened a few times this year with us, when we thought we had the race won and ended up getting beat on the last lap. I don't want to roll into a race being arrogant that we have a race won. We go into races hoping to win and being confident that we can, but we also have to keep in our heads that something can happen at any time."

BUSCH: (ON JASON KELLER BREAKING TOMMY HOUSTON'S RECORD FOR STARTS.) "That's impressive. Jason is a class act and a great talent. Accumulating 418 starts these days is huge, and it's good for the series that has lately been dominated by Cup guys. I hope I see Jason this weekend so I can congratulate him. It's good to see him back in the car on a regular basis."
