Event Preview Fact Sheet

Event/Date: Dollar General 300 – October 12, 2007
Venue: Lowe’s Motor Speedway – Concord, N.C.

NOTES:

  • This Week’s Race Car at Lowe’s Motor Speedway … Jeff Burton will pilot Chassis No. 073 from the Richard Childress Racing (RCR) stable in this weekend’s Dollar General 300. Built new in 2007, this is the same Holiday Inn Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS that Burton drove to Victory Lane at California Speedway in September. Most recently, the South Boston, Va., native drove this chassis to an eighth-place finish at Kansas Speedway after starting fourth.
  • Top of the Charts … Based on Burton’s eighth-place finish at Kansas, the No. 29 Holiday Inn team maintains the top spot in the NASCAR Busch Series (NBS) owners’ championship point standings. The potent duo of Burton and Scott Wimmer have advanced RCR’s No. 29 machine 54 point ahead of Roush-Fenway Racing’s No. 60 machine.
  • Stat Facts … In 27 NBS starts at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, Burton has posted two wins, six top-five and 12 top-10 finishes and has led 369 laps.
  • RCR Busch Cars at Charlotte … In 33 NBS starts at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, RCR boasts six top-five and 15 top-10 finishes with eight different drivers including Clint Bowyer, Burton, Jeff Green, Kevin Harvick, Ron Hornaday Jr., Jay Sauter, Mike Skinner and Wimmer.
  • Pretty Strong for a Part-Timer … Despite competing in just 16 of the 30 NBS events to date in 2007, Burton sits 17th in the drivers’ point standings. All but two of the races have resulted in top 10s, including three wins (Las Vegas, Atlanta and California) and 10 top-five finishes.
  • Double Down at Charlotte … In addition to his driving duties with the No. 29 Holiday Inn Chevrolet, Burton, a 19-time race winner in the NASCAR Cup Series, will drive RCR’s No. 31 AT&T Chevrolet in the October 13 Bank of America 500. The race will air live on ABC beginning at 7 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) and can also be heard on the Performance Racing Network (PRN) and Sirius Satellite Radio.
  • Fan Day at RCR … RCR will host a special fan day on Friday, October 12 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. All RCR drivers, including Bowyer, Burton, Harvick, Tim McCreadie and Wimmer, along with team owner Richard Childress will be on hand to sign autographs beginning at 9:30 a.m. In addition to the autograph sessions, there will be museum tours, pit stop ride-a-longs, product discounts, food and live music. Fans should arrive early to get tickets for the autograph sessions and stay all day. Log on to www.rcrracing.com for directions to RCR and more information.
  • Friday Night Lights … Live coverage of the Dollar General 300 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway will be televised on ESPN2 Friday, October 12 beginning at 7:30 p.m. EDT. The race will also be broadcast live on PRN and Sirius Satellite Radio. Qualifying for the 31st of 35 races on the 2007 Busch Series calendar will air live on ESPN2 the same day beginning at 4 p.m. EDT.

    JEFF BURTON QUOTES:
How do you feel about this year’s Busch Series race at Charlotte?
“Our mile-and-half program has been really competitive this year. We had a good run there in May and hopefully we can follow that up with another strong run for Holiday Inn.”

You are contending for the owners’ championship. Do you think about that when you are racing?
“We don’t come to each track worrying about a championship. The Holiday Inn team focuses on each race. All that we can do as a team is our very best and if we do that, the points up will add up. We can’t control the other teams or worry about what the other teams are doing. We have to focus on what we are doing and do a good job. If we do that, then the results will follow.”
