Carquest Auto Parts 300 - Kyle Busch Notes

PREVIEW: KYLE BUSCH (NO. 5 STA-GREEN XTENDED FEED FERTILIZER/LOWE'S CHEVROLET)
VENUE: LOWE'S MOTOR SPEEDWAY (1.5-MILE QUAD-OVAL)
CIRCUIT: NASCAR BUSCH SERIES (RACE 13 OF 35)
EVENT: SATURDAY, MAY 26, 2007 (200 LAPS, 300 MILES)

BACK IN THE SADDLE: Kyle Busch returns to the No. 5 NASCAR Busch Series team this weekend for the CARQUEST Auto Parts 300 at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Busch's last NBS start was at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway where he finished fifth earlier this month. Mark Martin drove the No .5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet to a runner-up result the following week at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway.

LOWE'S VICTOR: Two of Busch's seven career Busch Series victories have come at Lowe's Motor Speedway. The two wins occurred in the 2004 and 2005 May races.

LAP LEADER: Busch has led a combined 221 laps in six of his seven Lowe's Motor Speedway starts. So far this season, he has paced 532 laps in Busch Series competition, more than any other driver.

LOWE'S DEBUT: Busch made his first career Busch Series start in May 2003 at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Busch started fifth and led 33 laps en route to a runner-up finish.

LOOP LEADER: Busch ranks first in the Busch Series with a driver rating of 114.9. He also leads all Busch Series competitors with the most "fastest laps run" (237), laps led (532) and miles led (760.66). Busch also is ranked first in green-flag speed.

ON HIATUS: Saturday night's Busch Series race will be final NBS start for the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports team until July 6 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway. Busch will pilot the No. 5 Chevy in that event.

SPONSOR COMMITMENTS: Busch will have twice the reason to visit victory lane this Saturday night as his Busch Series sponsor, Lowe's, also sponsors the speedway. Busch's NEXTEL Cup Series sponsor, CARQUEST, is the title sponsor of Saturday evening's race.

TEARING UP THE GRASS: Sta-Green's Xtended Feed Fertilizer will be on the hood of the No. 5 Chevrolet this weekend at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Xtended Feed Fertilizer promotes a healthy, thick lawn that lasts for up to five months.

CHASSIS 403: Crew chief Mike Bumgarner has selected Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 403 for Saturday's Busch Series race at Lowe's Motor Speedway. This car has not been raced or tested this season.

KYLE BUSCH, DRIVER OF THE NO. 5 STA-GREEN XTENDED FEED FERTILIZER/LOWE'S CHEVROLET: (ON TAKING A BREAK FROM BUSCH SERIES COMPETITION FOLLOWING SATURDAY'S RACE.) "I'm not really looking forward to it because we've been running so well. It's OK, though. I can live with a few weekends off (from the Busch Series). The Sta-Green/Lowe's crew guys have some work to do (in the shop) getting caught up on car count, and they also deserve some quality time at home with their families."

BUSCH: (ON WATCHING MARK MARTIN RACE AT DARLINGTON.) "Watching Mark Martin in the car was really exciting. The entire team was excited, too. I really thought Mark could take it to victory lane, and he almost did. It was fun to watch and be a part of."

BUSCH: (ON THE PRESSURE OF RACING THE LOWE'S CAR AT LOWE'S MOTOR SPEEDWAY.) "I don't really feel any extra pressure. It just falls into place, really. The Lowe's car naturally runs well at Lowe's Motor Speedway -- in Busch or Cup competition."

BUSCH: (ON GETTING EXTRA TIME AT HOME DURING LOWE'S WEEKENDS.) "That's the best part of racing in Charlotte -- being able to go home, stay home and sleep in your own bed. You know, we have our own motor coaches we sleep in at the track, but it's not the same as being at home. There are a lot of race fans in the area during race weeks, too, so we don't go out much. It's a good week to lay low and stay at home."
