Meijer 300 - Shane Huffman Notes
Shane Huffman
Kentucky Preview
HUFFMAN SET TO MAKE FIRST START AT KENTUCKY IN NAVY CHEVROLET
Shane Huffman will make his first-ever start at Kentucky Speedway on Saturday in the NASCAR Busch Series Meijer 300.
While Saturday will be Huffman’s first start at Kentucky, he has raced at several other 1.5-mile tracks, scoring a top-10 finish earlier this season at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
The JR Motorsports team will run Chassis No. JRM 023 this weekend at Kentucky. This is the same car Huffman drove last weekend at Nashville Superspeedway, where the Navy team finished 19th.
Fifteen races into the 2007 season, the No. 88 Navy team has collected two top-10 finishes. Huffman is ranked 20th in the driver standings and the No. 88 team is 28th in owner points.

What’s your plan for Kentucky?
“JR Motorsports has a good mile-and-a-half program, so I know I’ll have a great car this weekend. I’ve never been to Kentucky before, so I plan to try it out on the computer before we fly out. That’ll help me with the line once we get there on Friday. I’ll probably spend a few laps at the start of practice feeling my way around and go from there. We’ve had some good runs at the mile-and-a-half tracks this year, so I’m confident that we’ll have a good finish at Kentucky.”
Dale Ferguson, Director of Engineering, No. 88 Navy Accelerate Your Life Chevrolet
What’s the team’s strategy this weekend for Kentucky?
“Shane’s never been there before, so we’ll unload with a conservative set up, similar to the approach we took at Texas earlier this year where we ran well. We’ll let Shane get some laps under his belt before we make any big adjustments. We’ve got almost three hours of practice this weekend, so we have more time to allow Shane to get to know the track and then we’ll go to work from there. We’re running the same car we took to Nashville, so the feel of the car will be fresh in his mind. Kentucky is a very typical mile-and-a-half track. It’s got a few bumps that he’ll have to deal with, but Shane should adapt well. He’s done pretty well at a lot of the tracks he’s seen for the first time this year. I look for him to continue that trend at Kentucky.”
