Meijer 300 - Kertus Davis Notes
Kertus Davis
No. 77 Dollar General Stores Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Team Report
NASCAR Busch Series Race 16 of 35—Kentucky Speedway
NASHVILLE (TENN.) SUPERSPEEDWAY RACE RECAP:
Kertus Davis climbed back behind the wheel of the No. 77 Dollar General stores Chevrolet for the fourth time this season at Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway. Davis qualified the No. 77 car 25th on the starting grid for Saturday’s Federated Auto Parts 300 Presented by Dollar General event. Davis was caught up in a first lap incident with another competitor resulting in a 32nd-place finish. The No. 77 Dollar General stores Chevrolet currently sits 16th in the NASCAR Busch Series Owner Points Standings, a mere 25 points out of 12th.
KENTUCKY SPEEDWAY FACTS & STATS:
SECOND START AT KENTUCKY SPEEDWAY: Kertus Davis will make his second NASCAR Busch Series start at the Kentucky Speedway. Returning to the seat of the No. 77 Dollar General stores Chevrolet, Kertus has made five previous starts for Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) in the 2007 NASCAR Busch Series season.
KERTUS DAVIS’ THOUGHTS ON RACING AT KENTUCKY SPEEDWAY: “Coming off a tough weekend at Nashville (Tenn., Superspeedway) I’m going to keep my head up and I’m really looking forward to racing at Kentucky Speedway. I don’t have a whole lot of experience at Kentucky, I’ve only competed in one Busch Series race at the speedway in 2005. I’m trying to stay as focused as possible this week, on my normal routine of working out and eating right.”
WIN A FAST MILLION: Dollar General launched one of the largest give-a-way promotions in the history of the NASCAR Busch Series. Dollar General is offering race fans and shoppers alike the opportunity to take a ride on easy street with Win a Fast Million – the sweepstakes that offers one lucky winner the chance to win $1 million if Bobby Labonte is declared the official winner of the Homestead-Miami Busch Series event. The grand prize winner will receive an all-expenses paid trip for two to attend the NASCAR Busch and Nextel Cup Series races at Homestead-Miami, Fla., on November 16, 2007 and $10,000 cash. The Win a Fast Million sweepstakes kicked off June 1 and ends October 13, 2007. Entries will be accepted online at www.dollargeneral.com; through the mail by completing an official sweepstakes entry form available at all Dollar General stores; or by entering at an official Dollar General mobile marketing display located at the participating race events.
BUSCH SERIES POINTS RUN: The No. 77 Dollar General stores Chevrolet has fluctuated from 22nd up to 10th over the last seven races in the NASCAR Busch Series Owner Points Standings and currently sits 16th following the Busch Series event at the Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway. Looking at the positions each week only shows the current standing, it’s the points ahead or behind that tells the story. For instance, the No. 77 holds the 16th position in the Owners Points Standings, but is a mere 25 points out of 12th position. The No. 77 car is two points behind 15th and five points behind 14th.
HANDS ON: Kertus Davis and Cale Gale have signed with Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI), as drivers, but have not lost sight of what got them to this point. Both drivers work in the shop Monday through Thursday from the time the shop doors open until the team leaves for the evening. “I enjoy working on my equipment, I know the ins and outs of the car that I’ll be driving that weekend,” said Kertus Davis. “Not only do I get my hands dirty, but I enjoy that time that I have to bond with my Dollar General stores crew.” At any point throughout the day, Kertus and Cale can be found under the hood of one of the line of cars on the KHI shop floor.
