Yellow Transportation 300 - Kevin Harvick Notes

Kevin Harvick
No. 77 Dollar General Stores Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Team Report
NASCAR Busch Series Race 30 of 35 – Kansas Speedway

KANSAS SPEEDWAY FACTS & STATS:

  • HARVICK TO MAKE HIS FIFTH START AT KANSAS: Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) team co-owner and driver, Kevin Harvick, will make his fifth NASCAR Busch Series (NBS) start at Kansas Speedway. Harvick started seventh in the 2006 NBS race at Kansas Speedway and never dropped outside of the top-nine to clinch his first victory at the 1.5-mile speedway. In only four starts at Kansas Speedway, Harvick has three top-five and three top-10 finishes on his record.
  • FOUR AND FINAL: Harvick will make his fourth and final NBS start in the No. 77 Chevrolet. Harvick has raced the No. 77 Dollar General stores Chevrolet at Phoenix (Ariz.) International Raceway, finishing ninth. He raced to a fourth-place finish at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway and finished seventh at Dover (Del.) International Speedway in the spring. Harvick will sport the Dollar General colors for the final time of the 2007 season at Lowe’s (N.C.) Motor Speedway, piloting the No. 33 KHI Chevrolet.
  • RETURNING RACE WINNER: Kevin Harvick raced to victory lane at Kansas Speedway in 2006, marking win number seven on his 2006 season stats. Harvick would continue on and win two more races in 2006, bringing his season total to nine wins and seizing his second NASCAR Busch Series Championship.
  • SIX NBS EVENTS REMAIN: With only six NASCAR Busch Series events remaining in the 2007 season heading into the race weekend at Kansas Speedway, the No. 77 currently sits 11th in the Owner’s Points Standings. Kevin Harvick Inc. team co-owner DeLana Harvick has steadily watched as the No. 77 climbed up the Owner’s Points Standings week-in and week-out. Since Chicago, race No. 20 on the 35-race schedule, the No. 77 has climbed from 22nd in the standings to its current position of 11th and a mere two-points out of 10th.
  • CELEBRATING BIRTHDAYS: Two members of the Dollar General stores team will celebrate their birthdays this week leading up to the NASCAR Busch Series event at Kansas Speedway. Brian Balogh will turn 33 on Monday, September 24th and Jeff Sennett will turn 36 on Thursday, September 27th. Balogh is a mechanic on the No. 77 Dollar General stores Chevrolet and during the race serves as pit support by holding the pit sign and pulling hoses from over the wall. Sennett is responsible for rear-end and fuel cell components and on race day goes over the wall as the catch can man.
  • CHASSIS NO. 029 HAS BEEN TO ITALY AND BACK: Chassis No. 029 has made a trip around the world and back to Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) earlier this season. KHI’s competition director Stacy Johnson and a crew sent chassis No. 029 overseas to Torino, Italy to one of the best wind-tunnels in the world. The Pinifarina tunnel has made recent advancements to its rolling road wind-tunnel, the ground effect simulation system underneath the car that features a moving belt technique and blowing system. The 20-foot belt moves at the same speed as the air between the tires eliminating the boundary layer effect. Collecting the wind-tunnel data, the KHI teams have used the information throughout the 2007 season. The car was specifically built for the trip to Italy and has been parked in the KHI shop since the visit. This will be the track debut for chassis No. 029 with driver and team co-owner Kevin Harvick behind the wheel.
