Clint Bowyer
No. 2 BB&T Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS
Event Preview Fact Sheet

Event/Date: Yellow Transportation 300 – September 29, 2007
Venue: Kansas Speedway – Kansas City, Kan.

NOTES:

  • This Week’s BB&T Chevrolet at Kansas Speedway … Clint Bowyer will pilot Chassis No. 057 from the Richard Childress Racing (RCR) NASCAR Busch Series stable. This is the same car Bowyer raced to a fifth-place finish last season at Kansas Speedway. Since then, the car has been outfitted with a new body and received all the required 2007 updates.
  • Local Boy Does Good … Bowyer, a native of Emporia, Kan., grew up just over 100 miles southwest of Kansas Speedway. He graduated from Emporia High School and attended Flint Hills Technical College, also located in Emporia.
  • Kansas Wrap up … In three NASCAR Busch Series (NBS) races at the mile-and-a-half Kansas City oval, Bowyer has a pair of top-10 starts and one top-five finish. He has a 14.3 starting average and a 17.7 average finish. He has completed 537 of the 604 laps contested over those three races (88.9 percent) and has just eclipsed the $85,000 mark in earnings. In his lone Cup Series start in Kansas, Bowyer started sixth, led three times for 43 laps and finished ninth. He was leading the race with just over 100 laps to go before the Jack Daniel’s Chevy got away from him between turns one and two.
  • RCR at Kansas … In 15 NBS starts at the D-shaped oval, RCR has earned one win (Kevin Harvick, September 2006), five top-five and six top-10 finishes. RCR Busch cars have also led 69 laps in the Sunflower State.
  • Pretty Strong for a Part-Timer … In 17 NBS starts this season, Bowyer has amassed two wins, 10 top-five and 14 top-10 finishes. Despite having sat out 12 of the division’s 29 races to date, the Emporia, Kan., driver has led 298 laps and is 15th in driver points despite finishing 33rd in his most recent Busch Series race earlier this month at Richmond International Raceway.
  • Sunday, Sunday, Sunday … Following his duties in the BB&T Chevrolet, Bowyer will turn his attention to the Jack Daniel’s Chevy for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Race. Live coverage of the LifeLock 400 from Kansas Speedway will take the green flag Sunday, September 30 at 1 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). The race will be televised on ABC and broadcast worldwide on the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and Sirius Satellite Radio. Qualifying for the third round of NASCAR’s 10-race playoffs will be televised live on ESPN2 Friday, September 28 at 4 p.m. EDT. MRN and Sirius Satellite Radio will provide live qualifying updates.
  • Up to Speed … The Yellow Transportation 300 will be televised live on ESPN2 on Saturday, September 29 beginning at 3 p.m. EDT. The race will also be broadcast live on MRN and Sirius Satellite Radio. Qualifying for the 30th of 35 races on the 2007 NASCAR Busch Series calendar will be televised the same day on SPEED beginning at 11 a.m. EDT.

    CLINT BOWYER QUOTES
Did you ever have a moment last year when you were over at the big track and thought ‘holy smoke, I’ve come a long way?’
“For three or four years while that track was being built, we’d drive by it on the interstate on the way to the dirt track. I’d hope and dream of someday being able to race there – in anything. To be able to run my first race in the premier division in all of motor sports right there at Kansas Speedway – a place I drove by while I was still a dirt racer – that was pretty cool. It’s so much fun to go back there and be in my element with my people.”

Talk a little bit about how you’ve fared in a Busch car at Kansas Speedway?
“I’ve run well at the Busch races at Kansas and I’m definitely looking forward to going back and running the BB&T Chevrolet. Hopefully, we can sweep the weekend. That would be so cool to be able to win both races in front of the hometown crowd but I’ll take a win in either the Busch car or the Cup car. It would be a well-celebrated victory. I promise.”

Do you enjoy the Busch races now as much as you ever have?
“It’s hard not to have fun when you get to drive such a good car. The cars are so much fun to drive and BB&T is such an awesome sponsor that it’s just a really fun program to be involved in.”
