Ford 300 - WIX Filters Lap Leader Notes

WIX FILTERS LAP LEADER NOTES FOR THE FORD 300 NASCAR BUSCH SERIES AT HOMESTEAD-MIAMI SPEEDWAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2007.

  • Mike Wallace is the 2007 WIX Filters Lap Leader Award winner in the NASCAR Busch Series. Wallace earned $20,000 from WIX Filters for his accomplishments this season. The WIX Filters Lap Leader Award is presented to the driver who leads the most laps during each race in NASCAR’s NEXTEL Cup, Busch and Craftsman Truck racing series. In order to be eligible for the WIX Filters Lap Leader Award for a single event, drivers and teams in each series must run the WIX Filters decal on the front fender and use WIX oil or air filters in their vehicles. Additionally, for any year-end payout, teams must run the decal on the front fender for every race they participate in, with an allowance for one race, and they must always use WIX oil or air filters.

  • UNOFFICIALLY Wallace scored a 24th-place finish in tonight’s Ford 300. He led the race once for one lap. UNOFFICIALLY Wallace is 11th in the NASCAR Busch Series championship standings, 55 points behind 10th-place Matt Kenseth.

  • WALLACE QUOTES: “I want to say thank you very much to WIX for their support. This is something that we wanted to win this year. Unfortunately, it appears we didn’t finish in the top-10 in points so the WIX Filters Lap Leader Award is the highlight of the year. We appreciate it.” WHAT CAN YOU TAKE FROM THIS YEAR THAT WILL HELP YOU IN 2008? “Just a whole different way of doing a lot of things. Things that we did this year that weren’t right change ‘em for next year and hope we don’t make the same mistakes.”

  • Brad Keselowski was the WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race in tonight’s Ford 300. Keselowski led once for 18 laps and led a NASCAR Busch Series race for the first time since he held the top spot for five laps at Gateway (race No. 21).

  • Keselowski is the FOURTH Raybestos® Rookie driver to win WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race in 2007. He joins Marcos Ambrose (Montreal, race No. 23 and Las Vegas, race No. 4), Brad Coleman (Talladega, race No. 10 and Kentucky, race No. 16) and Juan Pablo Montoya (Mexico City, race No. 3).

  • UNOFFICIALLY Keselowski scored a 17th-place finish. He finished the season with five top-10 finishes.

  • KESELOWSKI QUOTES: HOW MUCH FUN WAS IT TO LEAD THE RACE TONIGHT? “That’s what it’s all about. We just need to do that with one lap to go [smiles]. It was good to know that we had a car that could do that. We’re making progress, we’re building confidence and trust in each other and that’s good for next year. I’m pretty excited about that.”
