Ford 300 - Bobby Labonte Notes

Bobby Labonte
No. 77 Dollar General Stores Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Team Report
NASCAR Busch Series Race 35 of 35 – Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway

PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY RACE RECAP: Ron Hornaday piloted the No. 77 Dollar General stores Chevrolet to a 10th-place finish from the 19th starting position at Phoenix Intentional Raceway.

HOMESTEAD-MIAMI (FLA.) SPEEDWAY FACTS & STATS:

  • MARY MCNAIR COULD WIN A FAST MILLION: Dollar General recently surprised Fairhope, Ala. resident Mary McNair with the good news that she is the grand prize winner of the Dollar General Win a Fast Million sweepstakes. McNair won $10,000 cash and an all-expenses paid trip for two to Miami, Fla. to attend the NASCAR Busch and Nextel Cup Series events. When McNair found out she was the grand prize winner she exclaimed, “I thought you were joking!” If Bobby Labonte is declared the official winner of the Busch Series event and McNair wins the $1 million prize, she already has plans for the money. “It will go towards our business, the Montrose Hideaway Bed-and-Breakfast retreat,” concluded McNair.
  • START NO. THREE: Bobby Labonte will make his third NASCAR Busch Series start at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway. Holding a starting average of 3.5, Labonte hopes to better his finishing average of 15.5 with a solid run in the No. 77 Dollar General stores Chevrolet.

    BOBBY LABONTE QUOTES:
What are your expectations for the last race of the 2007 season? “I’m really looking forward to finishing the 2007 season out strong for KHI and Dollar General. And I’m really excited about putting the No. 77 car back in victory lane to win Mary a million dollars! It’s a great promotion that Dollar General launched this year and we’ll do all that we can to fulfill it for Mary.”

CREW CHIEF CORNER WITH WALLY ROGERS:
What are your thoughts about heading to Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway for the final race of the 2007 season? “Honestly, I can’t wait to get to Homestead (Fla.) and win the race for Mary. It would be awesome to go to victory lane for Dollar General and to give Mary McNair a million dollars!”

Track specs, what is your opinion? “Since the track has had progressive banking put into it, I haven’t liked it as much. I thought it was more of a challenge to set the car up when the track was more flat.”

What will be the pit strategy? “Track position is very important at Homestead (Fla.) and pitting always plays into the strategy of the race. The track should be pretty weathered since it’s been repaved, so it will be more abrasive. A scheduled pit stop will be in order to come in and get a new set of tires towards the end of the 200-lap event.”
